Looking to upgrade my GTX-460 with a budget of £150-180 could push £200 if the performance gain would warrant.

My monitor is 1920x1080 60hz and I'm mainly playing Borderlands 2 and Batman AA and AC at the moment. Wouldn't mind having a look at Farcry3 too:confused:

Other specs are 3570k @ 4.2Ghz, 8GB of 1600Mhz ram, Gigabyte Z77-D3H board

7850 or GTX660, the 7850 is a good clocker, you can push it to 7950 stock speeds and with the 12.11 betas see some really nice FPS or you can go the 660 route which are also good clockers and offer PhysX (which Batman & a few other games use) plus great support for adobe apps.

Those are Nvidia Physx games, if you want full Physx i would suggest you go for a GTX 660 @ £185, tho it would be better if you could push to a GTX 660TI for £230.

If your happy to run Physx off the CPU on medium then you can get a 7850 at the same performance as the GTX 660 for £155, or a 7870 £190 / £200 which is at the same level as the GTX 660TI.

I will have a play around with the Physx and see what I think. I don't mind pushing for the 660ti over the 660 for the extra £50 if it is worthwhile.

Also not adverse to giving Ati cards a go if they are better value. Does running Physx off the CPU (on medium) require any additional setting up?

I can't speak for all games but i run BL2 on medium from the CPU and Metro 2033 on Max, this is on an AMD phenom II x6 overclocked to 4.1Ghz, your CPU will do the same if not better.

The Physx setting for those game are in the setting menu just like it is with Nvidia GPU's.

There is no downside going ATI other than Physx, but if your willing to spend the money just stick with Nvidia.

Looking at the 7850's which would you guys pick out of these?

All are around the £150 mark right now.

Also with Christmas coming up is it worthwhile holding off a few weeks to see what deals are about? These aren't likely to drop £30-40 right?

The MSI. they may drop in price for xmas or in January, but not by much, certainly not by £30.

You can always look at the free games, and sell them on to cover the cost? Plenty of bargains to be had ! :D

Do you get Sleeping Dogs AND Farcry3 right now or has the Sleeping Dogs promotion ended with the start of the Farcry3 promotion?
