Far Cry 3 Thread

This game im running on a GTX 690 and it runs good but occassionly i get dips to around 30fps and i also get the NPC shaking animation.

Textures sometimes draw themselves infront of me also like rocks and trees.

The game is badly optimized and needs a patch.

I have applied lots of tweaks like anti aliasing flag(inspector) and massive tweaking to the XML.ini file.

Still no joy.

Its a great looking game but it should run better and i wish i hadnt bought it tbh.
 
The combat lets it down the most really. Boring standard enemies, no variety. I stand by most of my previous comments RE loot boxes etc. It's good-to-middling, but definitely not a classic.

On another note, why does every conversation come down to the lowest common denominator in gaming i.e COD? Bringing up accusations of COD-loving as some attempt at an insult should be akin to Godwin's law. I.e. the fool who brings it up automatically loses the argument. I'd call it AndyT's law. all shooters have boring standard enemies, they all look the same..... Deus Ex/ FEAR/Crysis Warhead/ Bioshock, the AI is all the same..this is therefore not a fair complaint about FC3.

Far cry 3 is bound to be repetative, it has to be, it's set in a jungle all the way through, but what is interesting is :-

1..... you can vary your attacks/ stealth/ tactics, in fact; this is just about all you can do.

COD is bad to mention yes, because everybody knows it's crap, you need to compare FAR CRY 3 to Crysis Warhead, because both of these are jungle shooters.

Anyone know anything about Uplay points? ....I have just redeemed 80 of mine for the mission and handgun, but do they count for other games as well? I ask because I should have had loads from the Assassin's Creed games I think.

BTW, 14 hrs in, just reached the second Island. Not done many side missions tbh, 12/18 radio towers and 12/34 camps cleared. 2/14 story missions done.

Badly optimised, eh? Seems to run very well on a huge variety of hardware :confused: Also the game is pretty good as it is aside from graphics, so I don't get the wishing you hadn't bought it thing. Maybe you should have bought yourself a tech demo or screen saver instead :p

Try without SLI and see what happens

As for the draw in, I see lots of hard drive activity when driving about so it must be streaming data quite a lot. I don't see much of it apart from in the middle distance and when handgliding

Started playing this morning, im about 4 hours in and it's pretty tasty. Haven't actually finished the second story mission yet, just running around ending it for bandits and hunting for materials.
 
Bow underpowered...............lololololololol :p

More like over powered, one arrow = one kill no matter the distance for any human enemies apart from the heavy body armoured guard and as said you can re use your arrows by walking over the bodies.

With one of the first 2 default snipers, it takes 2 shots to kill someone in the chest.

And still require 5 arrows to a Tiger's face to kill it? Stick with my flamethrower thanks. ;)

Yup it is crap for the bigger animals like the bears, tigers etc. which is why I use shotgun, up close and personal :p :D

Once you get used to the arrow drop, speed etc. and aiming for when people are running you really can play as if you were Rambo/green arrow :D :p

I actually do better with the bow than with guns now :eek:

Get the best scope for it as well as crafting some explosive and Molotov arrows and you really are set to conquer ;)
 
This game seems to push my system to the absolute limit on ultra @ 1080p (580 SLI). I've dropped MSAA to x4 but my top card was still hitting temps of 90 so I think I'm going to have to drop some other settings too. This is with the latest beta drivers.
 
Try putting postfx on low that setting for me pushed temps right up on my card and I see no difference between ultra and low on that setting lol

How do you kill the heavy gunner guys with an SMG? I can only do it with tactically placed barrel explosions so far, but do they have a weak spot?
