Do you have any “technologically impaired ducks” in your office?

I have this debate weekly with a colleague at work. He bemoans every extra £ we waste. My retort, every single time, is: Can you change it? Is it your money?

Saying that, I've been a decision maker with a fairly large budget in the past. All that happens is another decision maker higher up overrides your decision. You can't win unless you're the monkey at the top of the tree. :D

All you can do is present them with the options and make a recommendation. If they choose not to listen to your recommendation, well at least you tried :p

I have in the past, come across these types. The worst are those who try for work-avoidance by blaming the IT system/PC, right down to the smallest thing. And even instances of hardware items apparently not working, but when you replace it, you often find there's nothing wrong with the item you replaced. Oh, and you get certain types of people who constantly have issues.

Unfortunately for people in a similar position, when their bosses decide the IT department is costing too much, they'll probably decide to save money by losing an IT worker. :(

Cannot even be bothered to do that nowadays. I just tell them they're wrong and let them get on with it.

Outsource the department. Sack everybody. Realise outsourcing costs more for worse service. Rehire new in-house IT bids on a lower salary. Profit.
