Just lost my job :(

If you get the job, pass on this message.

The Crysis series sucked donkey balls. Eye candy is for morons, game play must come first!

Thanks :D

Need a facial animator? :)

While there is no direct job posting I know at least one project where a facial animator would be useful. If you PM me I could probably give you for one of the HR peeps email for you to drop a CV+CL to

Not a single art opening :(

We have been expanding a lot the past few months so again I say its worth sending a CV in at the very least

cheers dude, how do I pm you? All I can see on your profile is Windows Messenger, which I don't have...

I'm probably missing something obvious...

I know someone on the Crytek Frankfurt animation team, give Owen a big highfive!

ha ha! nice one, small world! :D

One consolation from the Eurocom mess is we had a health cover thing that had just restarted for the year. 3 months ago I got some Prescription Oakleys for £60 (the cover pays £200 towards glasses). The cover ended a week after we got sacked so I phoned to check I was covered until the end of the month.

I legged it down to VisionExpress last week and got a pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses for £20 instead of £280! :D:D:D

I got the £200 from the benefit and V'express gave me £60 off for buying another pair within 3 months.

I also luckily paid my final Childcare voucher to the nursery before they got frozen. One guy lost £400's worth. Seems they were company assets or something...

Only small things in the grand scheme of things but at least it's something to go on top of my current £70/week job seekers

Yes, I'm on the dole.....now how much Cider can I buy with £70....?

Jealous of these peeps working in the games industry. Not sure how good the pay is but it must be a satisfying line of work... *plods on with networky stuff*

From people i know in it it definitely isn't all fun and games (excuse the pun :D). I still want to get into it though.

A guy I used to know worked for a game studio - he said it got quite rough when deadlines were approaching; pulling all-nighters and the like was hard going. All other things considered though, he couldn't imagine doing anything else. :)

Indeed.

Just having to deal with fanboys who cry about anything that isn't how they wanted it to be would put me off.

I spent too many years as a mod on a popular game forum :( I really do dislike gamers who complain non-stop.

Well done OP - just started reading this and I didn't expect to see your luck change by the end of the thread (obviously I'm really glad it did, especially as you have a two year old). I know it's not champagne and cigars yet but it sounds promising.

It's really nice to see ocUK 'ers supporting and encouraging their fellow members. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. The Internet's not such a bad place after all :)

It's not always a bad thing! Can't say it was great when it happened to me, but what I didn't realise was I was stuck in a dead end job and it was holding me back. I should have quit but the place when under and I got 2.5k out of it, started freelancing as self employed and now earn twice as much as before.

Every door etc.
