So I've just had the OTA update for Android 4.1 on my G-Tab 2 10.1 and it's about as "buttery smooth" as a rusty hacksaw (with no butter on it), OK so that's an exaggeration but honestly I see no improvement in smoothness from ICS? Is anyone else feeling this way or am I doing something wrong here?

I thought this update was supposed to bring Android in line with iOS devices (in regards to fluidity) but it doesn't seem to. My Nexus 4 is smoother but I'm still not sure it quite matches the "i" devices in this department.

I'm guessing it probably will be the same as the 10.1. I mean at least you get 'Google Now' and stuff but the fluidity is seriously underwhelming to be honest. When they say "buttery smooth" they must mean Tesco value butter.

LOL Just got home but no update for the 7.0 version yet.. :(

LOL Just did a search and they are touting it as Project Butter... Not so much then eh?

Don't blame Google for this, Samsung have soiled with it TouchWiz.

Jellybean is silky smooth on my Nexus S, and that's very old hardware compared to what you have there.

google's been smooth for me on both my hp touchpad (using cyanogenmod 9) and on my nexus 7, the nexus 7 being completely stock firmware.

I'd blame the bloatware that is added on top rather than android 4.1. Either that or samsung hasn't really optimised their build to suit their processor/gpu etc

Got the jellybean update for my Galaxy Tab2 7" this morning.
Boots quicker and home page looks different but running fine.
i use an app / process killer so i dont have to much running in the background.

maybe the thread starter had to much updating in the background when
he first got it?

Factory reset after an update? Turn on/off power saving functions or hardware accelerators.

Android isn't as smooth with the interface.. but rusty hacksaw?

Jelly Bean is OK BUT! Majority of Bluetooth programs don't work. The one that does took me 3 hours to connect to my m8s Tab 2 10.1 and he was sitting next to me.
He is on Ice Cream and his connected to mine and to my phone in an instant. So if you don't need Jelly B, leave it alone. Nothing wrong with Ice Scream.

After the update, a factory reset and not logging into samsung or google apps it now runs a lot smoother. Until this the tab was on its way to a popular auction website due to being very sluggish.

LOL! You really believed that? Android is at least 5 years worth of optimization behind iOS in smoothness and UI consistency, if it ever even catches up at all.

At least 5 years behind?
Sounds like someone's pulling meaningless numbers out the air.

The only problem Android has, is manufacturers raping it with their hideous UI tweaks, and adding as much bloatware as humanly possible.
On all recent devices I have used, with stock ICS or JB, Android is extremely smooth.
I guess you are just living in the past?
