Worth looking at or not? Type R or Megan

Pros of the Megan
Turbo powered
Cheaper insurance and running costs
Not as common
Lower mileage

Pros of the Civic
Its got vTec yo
Looks like its been looked after very well
More reliable than the Renault

Im unsure if it worth going to look at the Type R. I dont really want another French car as they break.

Out of the two which would be the better choice?

I would take the Honda, as French cars fall apart to quick for my liking.

So go out drive both and buy the one that suits you.

Im just unsure as the mileage on the Civic is very high. Higher than my pd150. Plus at the price they are asking for it, its a lot taking the mileage into consideration.

If i had to pick out of those 2 cars I'd go with the Renault, Looks loads better to me & the Honda interior is hideous. Honda mileage would scare me as well but i have no real reason why.
I haven't driven either car though so it's purely cosmetic & opinion.

16000 miles per year is not that bad, as long as it has been serviced correctly I would go for the Honda, just try and haggle them down a bit on the price.

What I find more amazing, is that they've bought the CTR for Motorway driving.

Exactly what I thought! "Ah yes, now what should I buy to sit on the motorway in... I know, a revvy, uneconomical hot hatch with firm suspension and low profile tyres. Perfect!"

My haggling skills are rubbish. Most ever Ive knocked off was £200 on a £4000 car.

The amount you got off doesn't mean jack. £200 off a well priced £4000 car is still better than £500 off of one that was overpriced in the first place.

I only got £250 off our Grande Punto and that was up for £6k but it still represented by far the best deal at the time and I haven't seen anything close to the price for the spec, mileage and age since.

By the way mate, your postcode is included in those links so I would repost them without

Ive changed it now cheers.

I quite like the back end of the Megan as its different.

Going to have to do some serious thinking about these as I can get an older lower mileage Type R (pre-facelift) for less.

Having owned a 06 Type R EP3, there brilliant cars, but I wouldn't touch one with 129k miles.

I'd look for a lower mileage clean example with decent history or go for the megane, do you not fancy a cupra r?

The standard type R seats look crap, no were near as decent as on the 05 premier models.

Ahhhem...

:D

That's a lot of miles on the Honda though. I picked up my 80,000 mile CTR for only £3800. AC, FSH, new boots all round etc...

that Megane is actually one of the few French cars that i like, however i would still pick the civic.

If you have a dig around on youtube there is a fifth gear episode comparing the two
