which country or nation would you NOT want to mess with?

I personally don't believe that if the **** truly hit the fan that China would have the domestic support that they think they would. I suspect many Chinese would refuse to serve (regardless of the cost) and many others would rebel, especially if there was any sign of things not going well.

Afghanistan, unless we 'genocided' the inhabitants no country is ever going to win there.

Israel is also a stupidly powerful country.

North Korea have a large enough army, but the peasants are hardly a hardy bunch. They are malnourished and no doubt easily overcome. Plus, I question how strong their army really is.

Add Russia to the list, they would take me.

The issue with North Korea is China...

They have a butt-load of nukes, massive army and pretty much hold the world in their hands, nearly everything comes from China.

Can you explain how they 'pretty much hold the world in their hands' please?

For instance I believe they are fifth at best for the amount of nuclear warheads they have, and none are active.

No country scares me, I'm English so it's bred into me to invade other countrys with a superior attitude & take what I want.

I'm pretty sure this China thing is assumption based.

Look at their current capability. They have paras (only behind Iran in the world) and they have active troops (number 1 in the world) but they have 'only' 800,000 reserve troops. That is dwarfed by many other nations.

The only thing they have over everyone else is the sheer numbers of people available to train. Training them wouldn't be easy.

Russia have more than twice their tank strength, they have 'only' one aircraft carrier, no cruisers, no helicopters, they're down on the US and Russia on subs in a big way (and, incidentally, behind us too) and less than half their air strength of the US.

The US, Russia, Iran and India have the military might. China just have the population strength.

but true has anyone actually ruled Afghanistan?

Ubersonic is wrong you easily argue Ghengis Khan pretty much took (read burned and killed) Afghanistan and so did Tamerlane. Alexander took a decent part of it. Did they take all of it and quell all resistance - no - but neither did the Germans to the low countries in WW2 but you would say they had failed to conquer them would you. The armies of Ghengis under the command of Subutai also took Russia in winter no less. Which is quite amazing considering your average school will teach children nothing of those times and yet devote a whole load of time to civilisations which didn't have such a global effect.

Probably the only country to actually have used Nuclear warfare on anyone.... the Yanks.

No-one else seems C-ish enough to have done that yet in any other war.

Russia and China. All about the man power.

The Russians have an alarming capacity to accept & shrug off the kind of losses on the battlefield, that would have Western military & political leaders quaking in there boots.

clever choice

but true has anyone actually ruled Afghanistan?

Thanks, its been partially conquered a few times but nobody has managed to hold onto it, they have a saying that's something like "you can take Kabul but you cannot break Afghanistan".

Their current win record currently includes:

Alexander the Great
The Median Empire
The Persian Empire
The Seleucids
The Indo-Greeks Empire
The Ottoman Empire
The Mongolian Empire's of Genghis Khan's and Timur Lung
The British Empire
The Soviet Union

You do realise that nuking Japan actually saved US and Japanese lives? Had the US been forced to commence a ground invasion then casualties would have been logarithmically higher.

So it was a humanitarian nuke, how kind of the Americans for presenting Japan with such a wonderful gift

Germans, they will rise once again.

while yes it saved lives with a possible ground attack they could have got the same response if they just used one bomb of just of the coast near to the Emperor's Palace and say this next one is for you, the yanks didn't bomb Hiroshima or Nagasaki before the nuclear bombs because if was also an experiment to see what the power of them could do that in itself scare's the **** out of me

That comment of mine was purely in the terms of manufacturing/economy/logistics point of view. If China were to close doors, docks and airports..

Also, my bad. It appears it was Russia i saw that had a butt-load
