i am with sky broadband.

suddenly a week ago my internet went down.
after a few phone calls and chat sessions its been escalated to bt openreach.

not happy but what can i do.
had to pay £5 a day for that btwifi and fon service just to check my emails and website etc etc.

have you ever been in this situation before and had no internet for longer than a week ?

Lie to them and say you run a business or work from home.

I needed a fix and they told me two weeks, so I told a fib and send I needed a fix ASAP as I worked from home and the net was vital for me, they were there within 12 hours.

Yes, when I moved last I was without internet at home for a month. Didn't really have an issue between work and free wi-fi at places like Starbucks.

that's the thing i do work from home and they know this.
my car is in the garage having some major work so i am not mobile either.

Phone, complain to Sky, log when you've called, who you've talked to and ask Sky to compensate. And why did you pay for the BT Wifi? did Sky advise that? May be able to claim it back from them due to the down time.

i had no choice but to use that service, no internet no pennies for me.

I had this problem with Sky when they crossed my line and moved me to Orange! As I pay only for home broadband they wouldn't entertain escalating it as urgent, and I ended up with no more than £1 compensation for the outage.

Load of bs, they would have told you working from home on a sky line was against their T&Cs.

Worked for 2 years for them and enjoyed telling people who got irate about their line and business, not my problem.

The worst I've had was when first rented the (newbuild) house I'm in now. We got told the phone lines were fully working and could be used from the go.

Unfortunately BT wanted about £350 to 'check' them (or something like that), but the landlord insisted they were told we could use them straight away. Both kept passing the buck, so I ended up paying. Then BT didn't turn up to two appointments - when they did, they were here 5 minutes.

Ended up being about 2 months total in the end.

I lost the fibre optic line a couple of years ago and that didn't come back on for 6 weeks. Just used the net on the phone (broadcast to the PC) for that time.

£5 to check e-mails! whaat!

Are you not on a 3G mobile data plan with your phone contract?

Unless your company provides the line for you you wont get away with saying you need it for work.

Most likely Openreach's fault. If it's the telephone line then Sky are at the mercy of BT Openreach who have huge delays on repairs at the moment.

It's all well and good getting a Sky engineer out to have a look and stick another router in to see if that fixes the problem but if it's a fault on the line then it's BT's problem and you'll just have to wait :)

What you having done on the RS6?

No BS here, they were great for me and that's exactly what I said. They were there at 8 the next morning after speaking to them 6 at night, so perhaps not 12 hours :p
