AMD Catalyst 12.11 Official BETA 11 Plus CAP2 12.11

Yipeeeee...

+1

BF3 Aftermath gets a thumbs up for 79 CrossFireX.:D

FC3 big improvement in CrossFireX between the new driver and 1.02 patch, no more dips to 30fps on max everything@1080p when driving fast through the jungle, it's sitting in the 60's now and 70fps+ running about and the cutscenes are now smooth too :D.

Hitman however saw no change, still poor utilization at times for no reason, I don't have a clue whether it's engine related or driver related as it's the same across the board with all gpu's afaik.:(

Ok, I'm being a bit thick here :) What's the .NET support 4 and do I want it? :)

I usually work on the theory that "less is more" and "if I don't know what it's for I probably don't need it" :D

Still getting poor gpu usage, frames are good but would like to be able to get the most out of my cards :(
Everythings on ultra with no msaa.

I fear its your FX-4100 thats the problem, its bottlenecking your 6870 xFire.

Overclock the crap out of it, you would be surprised at what happens when you do.

As humbug says, that's just your CPU.
I could bottleneck 6870 Crossfire on a better AMD CPU.

If that's FC3, it looks remarkably similar to Crysis 1.

It's overclocked to 4.6 at the moment :( does look like crysis in that screenshot i agree.
I thought farcry3 wasn't that cpu intensive? have not problems in bf3 etc with gpu usage.

It is. a better FX CPU should do the trick. http://www.techspot.com/review/615-far-cry-3-performance/page6.html

The FX-8350 @ 4.5ghz is 5 FPS slower than the 3770K @ 4.5Ghz.

The FX-6300 should improve it for you, its showing as faster than the FX-4170 which is clocked higher, so clearly the more cores the better.

(actually a pretty good CPU comparison that review)

Martini will you stop it with your AMD hating :p FX-8350 at perfectly achievable air cooled 4.5Ghz; its less than 10% slower than an £80 more expensive 3770K at the same speed on what is today the fastest single GPU there is.
Thats pretty good going.

Thanks for the advice humbug, I was looking at getting something better cpu wise too :) now i have a good excuse to tell the other half :P

The FX-6300 with an overclock should max those GPU's as you want, or go all out on an FX-8350, its a good chip. :)

I'm not giving any AMD hating at all.
Unless the FX 8320 is an Intel chip?
Or he already has an Intel chip?

The FX8320 is the best of a bad bunch price/performance and OC'ing wise (And I pretty much meant that in general, I mean there isn't an i5 brand new at 120 quid is there? Yes, I was calling what Intel has at that price region a bad choice as well), hence I've suggested it.

Seriously, I don't know where your head is sometimes with the spin you give (That spin being blanket figures you give, what's more hilarious is that the CPU graph you give disproves your comment, at 2.5GHZ the i7 3770k is out gaming the 4GHZ, yes it's by 1 FPS, but the clock difference is 60%, obviously not 1 situation that fits all, and I won't pretend it is.

Although I will need to elaborate, obviously in the FC3 they've both managed to reach the end of the GPU's power, that's all well and good, but doesn't tell the whole story, the i7 can almost do it at a much lower clock than the FX83, it means it's got more in the tank, new GPU's are coming before the new AMD CPU's, so why would you buy a CPU now that needs clocking quite a vast amount to keep up with the GPU's when you should be looking at what's going to happen with future GPU's and your CPU? You keep coming out with blanket statements and as proven, blanket statements just don't work.

Ergo, stop coming out with blanket statements, stop acting like I'm some rabid AMD hater, when I'm far from it, I'm just a realist.)

EDIT : It just seems like you're on a mission to sell as many AMD CPU's as possible, even when people are best off sticking it out with that they have until there is real and viable options that won't again need changing out so soon.

Its not a blanket statement its in the review.

i7 3770K @ 4.5Ghz - 75 FPS.
FX-8350 @ 4.5Ghz - 70 FPS.

No one down clocks their CPU to 2.5Ghz, no one runs their CPU like that.
Yet you ignored the performance of the chip at stock or overclocked and laughed at the performance when down clocked.

2.5GHZ 3770k > 4GHZ FX8350?
LOL.

Sometimes you just look plainly like some one with an axe to grind, its getting ridicules.

Yes it is a blanket statement, it's not a one size fits all.
And I didn't bring up anything about the FX83 underclocked.
I also didn't ignore anything, it's just you who can't read (I mean, seriously, is your eyesight that bad? You've quoted me comparing an UNDERCLOCKED I7 with a STOCK FX8350)

I'd put you on ignore, but then I wouldn't be able to call you out when you continue to tell people to spend money they don't need to spend.

EDIT : I'd also like to remind you, that in this thread, I never once told him to get an Intel CPU (So how I have an axe to grind is beyond me) what I did was telling him to either keep his gear (Which is an Intel, I mean AMD setup), or get what I consider to be the best price/performance chip around at the moment (The Intel chip, I mean, the AMD chip the FX8320)

Your blatant biased attitude blinds you.

I need 2 try new beta. I still got some bugs in WoW. And sometimes driver will crash when i start a game and i need reboot.

Any idea when the full non beta version of the drivers are out? Sitting on 12.8 but I'm too lazy to install these :p.

Myself and Mr T 'pity the fool' that doesn't use the 12.11 beta series of drivers.
