Been listening to Alice for the past week non stop.

I've got and loving both: Hey Stoopid! and Trash.

Any other must have Alice albums?

He's amazing :D I saw him when he came on at the Foo Fighters gig at Milton Keynes :D I've heard him on Planet Rock a few times aswell - Sounds like a totally down to earth dude :D

Infact... He's on now! :p

Hey Stoopid was an immensely important album to me in the early 90s. Nothing else of his quite touched it though for me, and I tried a lot of them. Albums like Killer and Welcome To My Nightmare and decent but they just didn't have the same flair. I went from there to Guns N Roses and finally got into metal with Paradise Lost, and haven't looked back since.

Trash is a good album, and for me has more outstanding tracks such as:

Poison
Spark in the Dark
Why Trust you
Only my heart talking
Hell is living with out you

Thats almost half the album, being composed of outstanding tracks!

That is an incredible album, knocks spots off of Bat Out of Hell easily :)

Have either of you heard his concert played in Melbourne - it's recorded live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and it is simply awesome!

Here's track from it:

He gets a bit carried away after "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" but it is brilliant!

That is true.

But you also shouldn't care who is cool and who isn't. I know it's hard with music but it really doesn't count.

Or at least listen to the uncool stuff and don't tell anyone.

The problem with Meat Loaf, is he is uncool to like....

I don't agree - I've seen him live in concert in Glasgow and have to admit I was hugely disappointed. His backing singers carried him throughout the entire concert!

So - I'll never pay money to see him live again but no one could argue in his day he was phenomenally brilliant on stage and put on a fantastic performance. And yes, despite this I'm still a huge fan.

I don't think AC is particularly cool is he?

I don't know - is he?

Chatting to a friend at work recently about rock / heavy metal music (we're both huge Rammstein fans) and I said I love Iron Maiden / ACDC / Alice Cooper and he replied "Oh yeah, crock rock" Perhaps it is - perhaps I really am "that old" but no one can deny these guys are all awesome and still today they'll draw a huge crowd from their extensive fan base to every concert they schedule. Either way my work mate made me feel really old

if you want to listen to alice doing something different try his radio show on planet rock. always a fun listen especially when he goes off on a rock and roll story.

Yea a freind at work introduced me to the concept of Dad Rock. I suppose AC is in this bracket.

Dad Rock is a ridiculous term. It basically counts out anything from the 70s and earlier. It's so ironic because those bands formed and inspired their successors' sound.

****es me off hugely. You do know that Mikael from Opeth is a massive fan of 70s rock and praises it all the time?

ACDC are considered to be one of the pioneers of the heavy metal rock - they're still one of the highest grossing bands of all time! And if you'll forgive me for trolling your thread with another embedded YT link OP I think you'll see why:

Skip to 3:19 to see Angus Young doing his famous Chuck Berry duck walk and bear in mind River Plate stadium has a capacity of nearly 70K and they filled it with an ocean of people of all ages all dancing in time with their "crock rock" tunes.

The atmosphere there must have been electrifying

I think when OP said AC he meant Alice Cooper.

I kind of feel this thread's been lost now though after the 'uncool' comment.

I mean, if you like a style of music you want to learn about it origins, right? No, maybe not.
