So there was a 'cable break' at the local exchange, so phone and Internet are out of action! Simple things like checking bank accounts, email correspondence and weekly shop!

I Am with talk talk, who i have never had any issue with at all, however they have said the the issue is with bt open reach, and cannot give any indication of when this will be fixed!!

It's like having my arms cut off! Fortunately I get 3G in the bedroom, so not completely disconnected!

I hadn't realised you can no longer go to the cornershop or supermarket in person and buy stuff...

If you were BT you could ask for the bt openworld temporary account. if it is too long you should ask talk talk for dialup access see if it works.

Of course it's with BT - talktalk don't own your line :)

Exchange faults are generally quick to fix. I've seen faults go from raised to closed within 30 minutes when they are simple exchange side faults.

Yes, had it. It's a pain but 3G is there to take away some of the pain. After twenty four hours you discover that there is so much more to life than the internet. :p Enjoy it while it lasts.

Poor OP probably won't open that because he'll be conserving his data usage and/or won't want to wait for it to load ever so slowly.

But I laughed.

If it's any consolation, OP, I'm RMAing my mobo and GFX card so will be without a PC for a fair while. I feel your pain. At least you can play SP games! I have to download world of goo to play on my gf's work laptop because it can't handle anything better :(

Have you contacted them again? Can't see how it takes that long to replace a broken wire.

yes.. many times, tried calling them again, and ended up with a looping automated message stating that I should call back again in 72 hours!! A colleage at work is also with talk talk and has no line.

The initial ticket that I raised was closed saying that it was fixed, and a new one re-opened, while I was on the phone to them on Monday!

What exchange are you on?
In Thame, the main junction box is by the Cross Keys pub (not sure if you know area). I have seen engineers sat by it most days.
