Cable break at exchange = no phone and Internet!

So there was a 'cable break' at the local exchange, so phone and Internet are out of action! Simple things like checking bank accounts, email correspondence and weekly shop!

10 years ago these were known as 'going to the bank', 'chatting to your neighbour' and 'going shopping' and none of them required the internet.

My talk talk was down all day yesterday. Back up now but it was pretty annoying.

And then, when we realised we could do all of that without the unpleasant experience of dealing with the other ******** at the bank, in the shops or on the same street as us, it was like nirvana.

If only there was some-kind of large building that sold items like food and toiletries, or a building where one could deposit or withdraw money.

Whilst that is perhaps doable by our great minds in the near future I think the science-fiction style thing of talking to each other by some form of remote listening device is not going to happen in our life. The mobile telephone is shear fantasy right now...

I have sent you a mail but havent seen a reply.

sent via trust? just checked and it has a really old work email address!

I've just had call from a talk talk engineer who has escalated this up to BT Open Reach to fix, so another 24-48hr to fix...!

Or the time when you rode your bike over to a mate's house, left it carefree at the end of his/her driveway and whittled away an afternoon playing Super Nintendo, watching cartoons and waiting for his/her Mum to bring squash and biscuits up on a tray.

Sunrise, sunset.

so new year.. and still without phone and broadband..... i'm stuck in the contract with a 100 quid cost if i want to break it and go with some else......

A month of no service is 100% grounds for the early termination of your contract on account of you having not received any service for that period.

You see the problem with this idea right, groen?

Going over his head. Same as how he doesn't work for that law firm.

Also a month without Internet is more than enough to cancel but the question is who you gonna go with? If the lines cut between you and the exchange, nobody besides virgin media cable or a wireless provider can serve you. If its post exchange, anyone using the OpenReach network would have the same issue.
