They tend to be the ones with massive insecurity and self-image issues who get extremely "funny" about you having friends (especially female ones) and having any kind of life that doesn't involve them!

I view it the other way around, the loud in your face ones I've encountered through life are the insecure ones, they constantly need attention, praise and admiration of others in order to feel good about themselves.
