Stuart Hall Arrested

questioning means nothing generally though as anyone can point a finger and they have to investigate lets hope its not true there seems to be more and more of this type of stuff coming out and if its true it really is quite worrying how bad it is behind closed doors.

Well he's actually been charged now so they must think it's winnable. Shame if true, he was the one football summariser you could instantly recognise - all the others pretty much sound the same.

Yeah he has been charged apparently girls between 8-16!
Hope that filthy ******* gets the full power of the law and judgement system (which in my opinion is nowhere near harsh enough)(if he actually has done it)

John Dilworth, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said the charges are that between September 1, 1974, and December 31, 1974, he indecently assaulted a woman who was then aged 16 or 17 years.

Between January 1, 1983, and December 31, 1983, he is accused of indecently assaulting a girl then aged eight or nine years and between July 1, 1984, and September 27, 1984, he allegedly indecently assaulted a girl then aged 13 years.

Mr Dilworth added: "He has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates' Court on January 7, 2013.

"This decision is made in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and I have concluded that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that it is in the public interest to prosecute this case."

Not looking good for Mr Hall.

That isn't good at all, however it begs the question, why the hell have they waited til now to come forward?

Seems that after the Saville incident, everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon.

Well you are guessing that the victims came forward recently. It could be the case that they were approached as part of the Savile investigation and would otherwise not have gone to the police.

How on EARTH can you prosecute someone for something like this that happened years ago?

What POSSIBLE evidence would anybody have?

Just someones word against yours. Its completely ridiculous.

Its like a reverse minority report.. for past crimes.

By arresting them, interviewing them and the victims and seeing what corroborates.

You might as well ask how did we ever convict anyone 30 years ago when we didn't CCTV, DNA, computer records etc. Just because we have more definitive ways of discerning truth now via technological and scientific advancements doesn't mean the old ways of getting convictions (i.e witness statement and testimonies) don't count any more.

We all assume that these people go into questioning like some Mafia Don and sit there quietly, keeping their cool but in reality a clever interviewer can often get people to admit their crimes or at least put them in a position where it's obvious they are lying. Look at DLT with his "things were different back then" line, pretty much admitting it.

For all we know Hall could have admitted it to (hence the charge) but is trying to argue that it was 'just a bit of fun' or 'it was the 70s everyone was at it'.

By "jump on the bandwagon" I assume you actually mean "may have finally been convinced to come forward now they know their allegations will be taken seriously"?

What stopped them in the last 30 years?

Oh yeah, they wouldn't have got any publicity. The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Alternatively they may have thought they would have little chance of seeing justice and every chance of another stressful and traumatic experience.

But I am sure you thought of that before coming to that conclusion ...

Or, as I said earlier, these woman may not have come forward at all but rather the allegations have been made by former BBC staff who have been interviewed in the ongoing Savile investigation.
