gigabyte 7950 or his ice q 7950?

Any VRAM temps regarding the his? Thanks for all the info guys really appreciate it.
Looks to be that they are dry similar I was initially going to buy the his iceQ card before I bought the Msi 7950 (I ended up returning 2 due to the faults) they did overclocked very well though got 1200/1600 but the heat was awful (even standard)and really loud and the vrm's got very hot,the other had instant memory problems before I even touched it.

Still debating if its worth upgrading from my 6850 though keep wanting to do it then not hahaha so Indescive worried the prices will go down a bit yet but who knows I suppose and my 6850 doesn't struggle really hmmm

What res and games are you using chris? And dont worry about prices as there is always something cheaper soon enough. I upgraded from a very good 7850 and honestly wont see much difference, although some of the latest games may push the 7950 a bit. Better future proofing I suppose, you have the upgrade bug, we all do, you know you want it, shiny shiny......precious. LoL. :D

A lot of demanding games there! I for one dont believe the 7950 is too much card for 1080p and although I've just bought a new 27" 1080p(I can almost hear gasps of disbelief) I will probably in the summer be looking at a higher res. so I got the 7950. Can always add another for xfire.:D

Hey WU, using AB 2.2.0 and this voltage unlocker. Will let you go as high as you like, I think.

Google as is will take you to it.:)

Interesting, never knew about this roly, thanks, for the lazy ones amongst us:

Wondering if it will unlock the voltage through AB if I put the DD back into the second pci-e, nothing I have tried yet does as I'd like to put my 7970 back into the top slot since it runs way way cooler than the DD.

Certainly works for me, good readme guide with it with excellent instructions. Been around for a while, surprised you havn't seen it before.:)

Never needed it before as I used to make my own custom bios with set voltage with RBE.

Pity the author couldn't make it work for the 79's because of AMD's 'secret' new power delivery which sets different stock voltage with the 79's.

Yeah I really haven't been into pc gaming long(about 8 months) so not sure how much more life I should expect out of my 6850 or when I should really upgrade tbh,but i do know this when I do upgrade I want it to be a good Leap up and something that will let me be abit future proof and if I can I would like to go up in res at some stage (hopefully) and I do like to have everything on high I am a bit of a graphics whore I like pretty!(I run two monitors at the moment one for gaming and the other just as another desktop as such for browsing and so will this take a lot from my 6850 can't say I've noticed tbh.

Chris I would have thought your 6850 would be struggling at 1080p on high settings with some of those games you listed, more so if also supporting two monitors. Get that 7950 now dammit!! :D

I am running 2 HIS IceQ's 7950's (in CF obviously), the cards are very cool, and the top card rarely exceeds 75 degrees when running a moderate overclock (1125/1325).
Unfortunately I got 2 (or certainly 1) poor card, and I unable to take the memory past 1400, even if I try and run the mvddc at 1700 :(

Also, I am unsure of the quality on my HIS cards. this is just my personal experience, but the metal connector with all of the ports on (Displayport, DVI, HDMI) was scuffed and showed signs of some quite serious usage, which given these were the supposed new "7950 Boost" editions, I was quite surprised. Also the plastic on the cooler was scuffed, irritating when I had just spent £500.
Finally, both of my cards fans spin at 100% load until in Windows (7 and 8), when they quieten down to normal levels, only 15 seconds but it's annoying.

Chris.

Now I'm stuck looking between the his and the gigabyte sat here looking ready to press buy.
I hate not being able to choose! I like the look of the wf3 with its three fans an like the look of the his and the fact it pushes the air out of the case did anyone notice any component's dropping in temp because of this on the his?
The grating noise worries me about the his,I know both are good just wanna get the best whilst I'm buying like anyone really.
I notice the his card is out of stock also.
Do you think the his will come on offer on these calendar deals? Is the wf3 on a calendar special now or?
Sorry for making the most drawn out process ever! hahaha

@Chrisoldinho, if the scuff is on the underside, did you notice there is a plastic protecting film on it, the one I had had a scuff too.

The His dropped my cpu temp by a couple of c.

I sit on the desktop with all fans off apart from the Khuler 920 sitting in 'silent' mode using Viper fans, the only thing I can hear in my case is a very slight hum from the pump.

If you have case fans that aren't on a controller, I doubt you will hear the grating noise(when I game I switch on the rest of my fans by the way).

If in doubt though the WF is inaudible on the desktop.

I personally just want the one with the best cooler tbh with the best vrm cooling and then noise level comes next obviously don't want anything loud but there is no worry of that with either of these choices.

I'm going to force myself to order one within the next hour or so you will be happy to know rolypolyman! Haha

I ordered the gigabyte WF yesterday, received it today. So far I'm impressed, the cooler is very good quality, I'm happy. I've not over locked it yet though.
