I'm in the process of buying my old man a Blackberry Curve for Christmas. At the minute he's on a £10 a month rolling PAYG type contract with Vodafone and has a some antique Nokia with a mono screen!!
I'm not 100% up on Blackberry's but from what I've been reading it seems you need some kind of bolt on package with most carriers to be able to use the email function. Is this true?
He doesn't have a computer at home and in an effort to get him on to the web and involved in email and facebook so he can catch up with friends, family etc I thought a Blackberry might do a trick. He is nigh on useless with touch screen stuff hence why I've been looking at the QWERTY boards on the Blackberry's, setting him up with a web-based email (Gmail or similar).
Given all the above would the Curve do the trick with his current SIM or would I be better getting a new £10 p/m SIM from GiffGaff.
QWERTY really is a must but if anyone has other suggestions I'm listening....
Cheers
