Running 2x IceQ 7950s Crossfire these bugs happen if crossfire is enabled or disabled.

---------------------------------------------------------

I want to know if there bugs or driver issues as i have just bought these cards and bit paranoid...

First issue is METRO 2033, artifacting on the main menu when DX9 mode and AAA is enabled, Snoke poping effect on the EXIT DOOR and sharp tairing at the sides of the screen.. also when you have a pistol equipped and you look at your watch top right corner of the wrist band for pixel colors flickering and big pixel poping.... only happens when viewing the watch and when viewing it under a light source like a light.
---------------------

Next FARCRY 3. this is the most annoying one

when the game autosaves it will save then screen will pop a checkerboard effect on the screen then vanish instantly. does it at various autosaves through out the game.
also the same effect will happen when your running into a area that is preloading as your aproche and if you look at certain area it will flicker the chequerboard effect and vanisha again........

------------------------------------------

like i said these issues are making me paranoid and within good reason to, i have reproduces these issues with crossfire enabled or disabled or taking both cards out of my system and putting one in at a time no matter what without fail these issues appear...

whats the chances of my luck in getting 2 broken cards ? with the exact same issues.

34 views and not replys on these issues.

Might have to contact OCUK and get some info from them.

Just been playing dead rising and nfs the run and dont see any artifacts at all,,,, it cant just be me with these issues there must be more otherwise im going to have to send them back as faulty.

I'd try a few different driver sets and caps to begin with as would be very very unusual to get 2 faulty cards that reproduce the exact same artifacts. Did you try them in different PCI-E ports as well?

I just tried Far Cry 3 last night, and didn't notice anything unusual when it was checkpointing. I have two 7970s, running the 12.11 catalyst beta 11.

I will give a few drivers a try but i thought using beta 11 would be better than going back with 7 series.

I cant beleave no one is getting these issues cant be 2 cards that faulty lol the corruption looks to me like if its not drivers or game to be memory issues.

does this on stock default clocks and underclocks or putting them in one at a time and testing individually ....

run them though OCCT 2gb memory test and no issues granted the program could only bench up to 2gb of memory and not the full 3gb but still no issues there.

very strange this is happening and if i cant figure it out im going to be screwed as the 7day DSR runs out tomorrow.

It's not your gpu's, panic's over, it's either a bug in the Beta 11's or the 1.02 patch or both in FC3, you could maybe roll back to the previous beta and report back if it's still happening or if it's gone, this would clarify if it's the driver or not.

Metro had a sort of bug that looks like artifacts due to AA filterts or something, I can't remember exactly but they are both bugs-whether it's drivers or indeed game code/patches, I don't know.

You should fill out the beta issue report thingamyjig and send it off to AMD, they are listening these days. :)

OCUK have 14 days did you get it from there?

Yeah got em from OCUK ;)

I also seem to be getting a BSOD that im not sure about with these cards happens randomly
stop error is :

0xa0000001

File causing it is :atikmdag.sys

Seems to be nothing but a hassle getting these new 7 series cards, why should be have to bug test for AMD arghhh lol

well thats great news as thats exactly the kind of chequer corruption i get in farcry....
glad its not my cards
but the metro issue happens what ever driver i use :/ so its still a puzzle.

The memory on your primary card might be faulty that would explain why you see artifacts in some games ie when memory usage goes over a certain point. i would try plugging your display into your second card and selecting it as your primary card in the bios play the same games again with crossfire disabled and see if you have the same problem. and also are you over clocking? is your power supply working correctly?

Already explained, been tested one card at a time both cards do it lol
and guess what guys things can only get worse for me, tonight i was testing out farcry and it made my power supply pc power & cooling 910w explode, was playing away heard a loadish pop burnt smell instantly hit my nostrels.
weird enough the pc still powered back up and went into windows but if i put any type of load on the card farcry3 for instance after 10 minutes pc powers off again and back on.
also the fan on the back of the power supply is going fully running its spins once then stops then spins again and stops.

Guess not only diagnostics on these cards im going to have to wait and keep them and after i get a new psu hopefully drivers will be out to fix the issues if not i can always RMA and get them replaced under guarantee.
unfortunately i bought the power supply in 2009 so its out of its 3 years :( , its funny how everything seems to break down within the year after guarantee runs out.

so now im screwed cant play with 2 cards going to have to hobble the pc power so that i can use it untill i get a new one meaning removing 1 card to reduce power consumption.

im bloody annoyed :/ , i would have thought 910w would have been ample power for 2 of these cards. guess not lol guess im going to have to get the MKII pc power and cooling 950w when i get the bread :( surely a branded 950w single rail psu will be powerful enough for these cards.

On Metro, i encountered something on a level after...
The Dead City 2, the level where the Ranger throws a knife in the guys neck during a cutscene, you kill two guards and then you enter that small corridor before you enter the maze like area.
My gun would display various colours until i exited that corridor, other than that, nothing.

Edit: Gigabyte 7970, reference cooler, stock clocks etc.

It's not popped due to the wattage.

+1

There is no way your 7950's caused your PSU to go boom.

Running clocked 7950/70 CrossFire on a 750W Seasonic.

Your annoyed that the PSU developed a fault as soon as the warranty ran out, yet your going to reward them by getting another.

My brothers 450W Corsair PSU was sent for RMA direct to Corsair and they sent him a 650W replacement, turnaround was 3-4 days, 5 year warranty as well.

You will just get hit with testing charges and return postage costs with your gpu's too if you rma them as the retailer won't test them in CrossFire on FC3(using an OSD)/Metro.

OK update,
this is weird, its like the psu has took a mind of its own and decided to let me run my games in crossfire :o

put 99% gpu load though both of them in farcry 3 with 8xaa all maxed out @1920x1200 ;) dam this game looks great also nice tip thanks for that seems enabling Framerate in g19 lcd using msi afterburner causes the game to show those chequer board things lol they seemed to vanish completely when i disabled framerate in msi.

so now we got that sorted metro is the only game i have seen out of a lot of games that is displaying the weird sprinkles and color poping in the wrist band of the watch.

all other games dont display anything even farcry 3 with its 8xaa uses near enough all of the 3gb on the card and it does not artifact anymore at all.

interfearing fraps and framerates lol thats a new one i cant remember a time when fraps caused interference in a game.

anyway im 100% positive that my psu is buggered and something defo burned up in there as the smell is very instinctive lol weird though that its still letting me use it :O

only thing i can think of is that one of the secondery caps blew up or poped or even the none primery one is gone and the secondery is working backup kicked in im thinking lol

what do you lot make of this as i have no idea...
