Religion question?

*waits for* "because it's not how I see the world, so it's WRONG WRONG WRONG, anyone who doesn't agree is insane or really stupid"

I've never posted that, yet you seem to love to keep posting it. It's just getting petty now, please move on and stop it. I'm not trying to start an argument here, I'm just genuinely bored of this conversation, it's clear we both have different views on this, and it's not something we will ever agree on. So let's just drop it and move on with something else.

Can you do that? :)

I didn't say you posted that specifically, rather than your posts on this subject tend to consist of that attitude, where you will deride people who have a different opinion to you, infer that they lack intelligence, or are mentally inept based solely on the fact that they perceive the world differently to you, which strongly implies that the only correct way to view the world is the way you see it yourself.

The issue there is solely your own, maybe you should address that?

Again that's something you've chosen to decide is in my posts, as it's not something I've ever said, attempted to say, or meant to say.

But, like I just said, please drop this now, it's really boring.

Witty, intelligent and eloquent as ever.

You're the last person I would stand and bang with on these forums. I quite like my immune system and liver how they are at the moment thanks.

I don't know how I would effect your immune system, but you are right, my hooks to the body do cause severe liver damage, don't be scared homie.

Sorry, got distracted from that one by Spoffle. The irony was that you're saying people are missing the subtle differences, but from the opposite point of view, that's exactly what you're doing.

But that's not even remotely ironic. It's views from a different side. This links in with my whole point of saying that proof and evidence are subjective.

Why do you respond with rubbish like this? You make yourself look like quite the chump.

I'd be surprised if you could right hook yourself out of a wet cardboard box.

Seriously, you're still going on about that?! Face it, we disagree. I've even asked you politely to drop this conversation. I can't be bothered to go through this debate with you again. We've both explained our opinions, and we both think the other is a damned idiot, now let it go and move on, okay?

Stranger things have happened. HD was very keen on outing dear old diamond mark, may be he tired of that character, perhaps rather than being a one trick pony regurgitating the same dull drivel and posturing at every opportunity, he is actually a brilliant mind, creating and living a myriad of characters. Either that or..................

[..]

Delusions are false beliefs about some external reality that are based upon incorrect inference. The beliefs are out of character for the persons culture, social circle and/or education background. [..]

Out of curiousity - why is the second requirement added, i.e. why is something reclassified as not delusional if enough people in the same culture, social circle and/or educational background believe it? How many is enough? If I form a reclusive cult, so that the social circle of cult members is only other cult members, and convince them that we are all birds from a planet orbiting Alpha Centauri, is that a delusion or is it not a delusion because it's a belief that's not out of character in our social circle?

True, but that is an extreme. I don't think anyone really does that any more. Could well just be my ignorance and I'm willing to be proven wrong.

It's much less common in this country than it used to be, but it still happens here and it happens a lot more in some places. Not just in theocracies, either. The USA, for example, provides quite a few examples of it.
