Which do you think would be the best tyre for a Mazda 6 MPS (which is AWD)? Size will be 225/40/18.

From what I've read the following are all decent, just can't decide between them. Also, are the Michelin Super Sports worth the extra over the Pilot Sport 3's?

Continental Sport Contact 5
Goodyear Eagle F1
Michelin Pilot Sport 3
Michelin Super Sport

Does anyone know of any recent reviews or tests on these tyres?

I'd be interested to know the differences between noise and tyre wear in particular, as I know grip levels will probably be very similar between them.

Thanks.

I have the same tyre size on my MK5 Golf GTi. I have tried CSC3s and GYEF1AS2s and I have just put two new Goodyears on. Definitely the best all round tyre. And cheap at the moment because of the cold spell! £102 each from Camskill!

Just ordered conti sport contact 5's to replace the sport contact 2's I have on the front of my car. Looking forward to seeing how much improvement there is in wet weather.

Decided to go for the Goodyears last week over the Conti's, really pleased, fantastic tyre and good value too.

I found the symmetric F1s far too soft for road use. - My car ate the set in about 12 months, so now I've got four semi-slicks and this isn't the weather for that.

I don't know about the other compound though.

I was quite pleased with the performance of Toyo Proxes, but they don't like the cold.

The pilot sport 3s are not comparable to the super sports, the ps3 is a following on from the Michelin exalto I believe and not a further development of the ps2. I believe the super sport is the current high performance tyre that would compare against the eagle f1 and sport contact 5.

My Octy vRS had Conti SC 2's on from the factory in May 2011.
Now 28k miles later there is still meat on them to the point where they will last past 30k without a worry.
They have always offered plenty of grip with low road noise.
So with that in mind I'll be buying SC 5's when I eventually need some replacements.

I spoke to a friend with Goodyear EF1s today and he said he got through a set in 6k miles. It doesn't sound like they last as long as the Conti's which may be a deciding factor for me.

I've done 3k miles on my A2's and there's very little sign of wear.

It's pretty hard to compare wear/mileage on tyres. I do most of my driving round town and when my car is pushed I get some nice wheel spin. My tyres get a good beating. If I was doing a lot of motorway miles they would have an easy life.
