Yep - it's Christmas and my dearest would like some new boots. She mentioned Ugg, but having read a few reviews they sound terrible. I've been informed by a trusted source that in Oz they're literally worn as slippers and never outdoors! Over here wearers complain the sheepskin wears thin quickly plus they're not waterproof. This is England after all!

So, what can I get her? Budget is up to £200 but would prefere £150 (I can then spend the £50 on smaller gifts).

Ideas and links welcome! :)

Firstly GAY! to everyone who recommends something and isn't female...

Secondly, take her shoe shopping, get her to pick some out and don't muck it up having your own ideas. Women love shoes (mega stereotyping) and therefore you can't be trusted not to muck it up.

Finally is this your coming out thread that you like to wear womens shoes and clothes?

You are going to have to be a bit more specific. Heels or not? long or ankle height? etc etc
Personally, if she has the legs for it, I would go for something about knee length with a 4" stiletto heel......but thats just me ;)

First red dresses and now boots. I bet you've just sung:

I cut down trees
I skip and jump
I like to press wildflowers
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars

I love cross-dressing and I'm okay

What next, lingerie?

Give her the money and let her choose them.

Heh - although I have worn a dress in the past while on holiday in Tenerife way back in 1996 (that says it all), on this occassion it's most certainly for the mrs :)

Think I'll take the advice of suggesting she picks them then I hand over the hard earned dollars. As Harry said - something in the style of Ugg would have been preferable - but also prefereable would be the criteria for them to be weather proof.

Btw I felt quite good in the dress. I liked the snug feeling and the colour too. I seriously suggest you all try it if presented with the opportunity.

but also prefereable would be the criteria for them to be weather proof.

Is that your requirement or did she say it?

Don't think logic and common sense has a place in fashion - that's why she needs to choose them and not you :-)

Thread is useless without pics of your dearest.
Agreed - us fasionistas need to see the person to get an idea of what to recommend :D

For god's sake don't get UGG boots!!!! They're called UGG for a reason. Next time you're out and about find someone in UGG boots and follow them for a bit and you'll see they're hardly boots at all - they look like a bit of sheepskin thats been wrapped around the shin - something from cave times - eraghhh!!!

The only good thing about Ugg boots is that I almost invariably see them worn by women in short skirts regardless of the weather. Thinking about that in more detail, even under those circumstances it is rarely a good thing.

a good pair of cats should do her, and wont cost £200 and fall apart within a month of damp cold conditions.

If she mentioned Ugg boots then that's what she wants/will expect.

^^^ this

It's a very specific look/brand/style. If she's asked specifically for them then that's what she wants.

A few stores do some own versions - might be worth asking her if she wouldn't mind them to set some budget free for that.

Budget doesn't seem to be an issue though as they cost about £200. So you're fine... crazy but fine. ;)

PS the Sheepskin wears as people drag their feet.

They are comfy though and warm - I can see why people go for them.

Fortunately didn't have to pay for mine so had nothing to lose ;)

get her some purple hunter wellies. they are boots, they are water proof and uggs are for chavs or look very chavvy.
