Right,

Sorry to vent on here but, how do you deal with people who just moan constantly about their lives? I've had an argument/discussion with a mate of mine after he started complaining about having to work weekends and that us 9-5ers have it "easy".

Now this annoyed me because he has chosen to give up his weekends for money, be it through choice or necessity, it was still down to him, so why the hell does he feel the need to complain/moan at everyone else?!

Sorry just a small rant for a Friday.

Cheers for reading.

see i wouldn't complain about it if it wasn't every couple of hours/every day about it.

Thinking hiding his updates will be required.

I have an old work colleague of mine who I haven't seen for donkey's but yet still know pretty much every detail of his love life because he updates his status on FB every 10 minutes with 'how he's feeling'

He split up with his missus and the whole breakup and subsequent getting back together was all over their walls, they didn't even bother using the private message function. I would say they were a "Jeremy Kyle" type of couple (in both looks and social class) and now I realise that certain types of people really have no issues with washing their dirty linen in public.

This is why I stopped using facebook, people seem to think it's fine to air their personal lifes for all the world to see, not my cup of tea ... Don't get me wrong I was well into facebook for a couple of years but I don't miss it because of that reason...

Also I'm always doing overtime, I don't moan I like that fact that I work hard to provide a nice house and life for me, my girlfriend and my two sons.....

It depends whether you have to listen to someones moaning in a personal or professional capacity.

At Work;
Just let the other person vent, try not to get drawn in unless you are the subject matter of the moan. Just continue doing something with the ocassional 'uh huh' & 'yep' - when they finish wrap up with something like you'll make a note and get back to them.

Outside of work;
Depends who it is and whether there is a genuine or emotional trigger for the moan - decide whether it is a situation where you need to lend and ear/shoulder to cry on and take it from there. Anyone who is a serial moaner gets less than 5 minutes of my attention - be sure to tell them directly "Oh you're always going on/moaning about that like a broken record" if that doesn't give them a jolt then they're a lost cause :( and direct them to OCUK forums :eek::D:D:eek:
