Duchess of Cambridge's nurse has reportedly been found dead

No one knows the true state that this nurse or receptionist was in prior to this incident, they could have already been a seriously depressed person who suffered from god knows what sort of medical or mental problems, this incident and pressure afterwards could have just topped it off for them putting them over the edge?!?!

Very very tragic

Someone that kills themself over a prank call would likely have done it for some other reason anyway.

Belittling what happened here slightly.

This wasn't just a prank call like phoning a pizza for your mates house. This was a prank call that was being aired live to millions of Australians and subsequently the rest of the world.

Unless you know what it's like to have the entire globe laughing at you I'd suggest you stop trying to play amateur psychiatrist.

Well of course but it's the media that made a big fuss about it.

Yes, the media did play a role, but the initial act that lead to that came from a prank call. Without that call none of the rest would have happened no?

Amazing.

If she hadn't of put them through she wouldn't have taken her own life?

Sad news. We can't really blame the pranksters, though.

Why should people not be called to account for the results of their actions? Perhaps suicide is an extreme reaction to what might have been considered as an harmless prank but these people should have considered the public vilification and ridicule to which the receptionist/nurse would be subjected as a result.

Without the media there wouldn't be as many people laughing at it/her.

Blaming it completely on the pranksters is just silly. Sure, they played a part, but so did her not doing her job properly and the media.

It's tragic, yes, but not entirely the pranksters fault.

If I rang you today and told you to drink some acid, and you did, would you hold me responsible?

Yes, really.

Get a grip. They hardly said anything to her.

No, don't defend them. Their actions lead to someone taking their own life. I'll leave that there for you to think about.

This too. The entire globe, your work launching investigations and the world press focused upon you.

Her actions led to that just as much as theirs did ...

If she hadn't put them through, it wouldn't have made the world news ...

If she'd had more support, maybe she wouldn't have killed herself.

You'll have to explain how that's the same as this?

The stupid phone call and the media attention. Quality radio and quality journalism at their best eh?

What if someone got upset by your argument and killed themselves?

Would you be to blame? The thought of this happening literally never even crossed their minds.

My point is that it's not direct causation. Just like the prank call.

To suggest otherwise is absurd.
