7970 Idle temps?

The fan is only 10% because it is idle. Did you want the fan on full even when not gaming? If so, that can be set with a fan profile in Afterburner.
 
Its staying at around 10% even when gaming! Max speed was 13% Temps got up to 54C at 13% wtf?

Seems weird should atleast go to 40% at them temps!

I know how to set fan profiles, my problem is the fan speeds are really low even when gaming so i dunno if theres a problem or not.

I do like how people get jeal of me for working for hp :\ Its not like i install 7970s every day yno? Infact its like i install any cards anymore TBH since all on CPU! SO enough of the ********, im worried about the automatic fan profile on this card, i dont wanna install MSI AB to fix it when the auto should work! Get my drift?

I know you think your all high and mighty on these forums but yes its only on these forums mate, i dont follow u from post to post saying "WOW YOU WORK FOR HP?" How the hell has that go anything to do with a 7970 automatic fan profile please explain?

give it a proper stress to allow it to ramp up if you are worried about it.

heaven 3.0 or evga OC scanner or something.

personally id be over the moon if my gfx card could keep itself at 54 degrees with 13% fan speed :D
 
Yes im not worried about the heat as its low which is nice but i hope my fans are working properly and sensing that the card is heating up which it doesnt seem so?

You know what i mean? Sometimes people dont understand me properly thats why some people which im stupid but its just the way i write stuff i think.

I think ill download heaven later and try that i need go out now but that should test properly like you said.

As I said earlier give it a go on 3dmark11

When the temps start hitting about 80c plus then you should take a look at what the fans are doing.

Which HD 7970 is it.

That is just scary. I would expect a computer builder for a reputable company like HP (whom I thought was reputable) to have a basic understanding of how a computer is built. I am not having a dig at you Hamish but surely you can see my point?

You need to either log to file or alt+tab out of Heaven after a couple of loops to see if the temps are high and if so, is the fan profile that you know how to set, set.

How in anyway do i not understand how a computer is built?

Why would asking why the default fan profile of a graphics card effect me doing my job?

Really i dunno wtf the problem is here?

10% even on idle is low to me, ive never seen such a profile? Ive changed nothing so i dunno why this is?

Its an Asus DirectCU2 model maybe some has one and see if theres is on 10%? and only 15% tops during gaming? I know the temps are still under 60C but its still unusual that is my point.

Nothing to do with putting parts together to build a pc?
 
Alternatively, set msi afterburner to display temps on screen. Then whilst heaven is running you can keep an eye on temps, afterburner can display fan usage as well on screen.

Some of the questions you ask are common sense questions.

For example:

23C @ 10% fan is a good temp and why would you question if the fan is faulty at that temp and fan speed?

I should have ignored this thread and my bad for answering. I realise now you post for a reaction and I bit.

Edit:

Maybe I have misread and you work for HP the condiment company and not the computer company?

I thought the 10% would be obvious to people i should have made it more clear so that is again my bad wording.
