3-4gb essential for 7680x1440?

WOuld love to see pics of your screen setup.

How do you deal with the bezel between monitors ?

When I tried it at 5760x1080 the two things I was concerned about were bezels and fisheye and both weren't an issue. You have to train yourself to not look directly at the two side monitors and treat them as part of your peripheral vision.

It's not easy and I still found myself looking directly at them from time to time. That's when you see the fisheye effect more of course.

Have you seen my comparison thread?

p.s. don't quote me on it but the X79/CF/Eyefinity issue appears to be resolved in the latest betas...

Edit: just noticed 3 cards isn't an option for you anyway with your set-up so you should definitely consider swapping to AMD if possible. There aren't any massive CF problems on Z68/Z77.

+1

7970s have issues with X79 and X58

Crossfire/eyefinity issues on X58/79 have been resolved with latest drivers :)

Well, my 7950 doesn't often go over 1.3GB (some games do though) at 1440p, but it needs all the gpu grunt it can get. So if you're running 3 of them and rendering thrice the number of pixels worth of graphics, I would suggest you'll need three cards for that. And scaling won't be 100% either.

As a 3 screen gamer, I can confirm that GPU grunt will be more of an issue than VRAM at the resoloution you want to play. Knowing what I know now, I would have gone for 2*7970's instead of 680's however I am very pleased with my 680's and the only game I have not found so far to run smooth is FarCry3 and this maybe just because of demanding frame returns or a total balls up of drivers from Nvidia (I feel the latter). It is very unusual for Nvidia to not have great drivers and others have reported it smooth, so it could be me doing something wrong.

I do love my 3D and because my monitors are Nvidia 3Dvision, I can't see me switching and trust me when I say I have argued and had serious thoughts with myself about it. As I said, the only game I have that does not run smooth is Farcry3 (it is fine in DX9) and if this is the only problem I have, I am fine with that :)

TL: DR, go for 7970's and water them :)

I've had a good old study of the WSGF over the weekend and I'm still not sure about switching brands.

I'm not sure if this is just in eyefinity resolutions but there are a fair amount of folk over there still having issues with micro-stutter (even with Radeonpro), crashing etc.

Considering these are experienced multi-monitor users it is a cause for concern. AMD have certainly won the FPS war but the more I read the less I'm convinced about overall stability.

At this point I'm thinking 3x 24" 1200p monitors or the BenQ's might be the sensible option until the next round of GPU's.

I would certainly go for AMD, though you will still struggle at the resolution unless yo have 3 cards imo. Are you able to wait for the next gen graphics? Supposedly coming around March 2013.
