Decided on getting an m3! Good idea?

ha thanks mate. Yea had to be done. I will be back there for xmas though. Im stuggling to say no but i just feel 12000 is slightly to much...... well its not at all. but its £2500 over what i was thinking haha i kinda like my little pot of money right now

£2500 won't seem that much if you buy a cheaper a M3 and end up splurging £1000-£2000 on fixing stuff. Also, BMW warranty will give you peace of mind.

I had a 11-12k budget when I was looking at them a while back, theres plenty of tasty examples about for that money though.

True. What is covered by this though. £95 a month.

I'm pretty sure it covers pretty much everything, it's a very good warranty from what I've read on here. Just need to get the price fixed at the pre-60k rate :)

Get a manual, SMG is ****! Bare in mind however that it's 100% subjective so ignore ANYONE who tells you which gearbox to buy.

What was your problems with SMG?

Clunks, occasional indecision, sometimes too aggressive and for some people temperamental and problematical with a slippy clutch. I just preferred the manual box which is what I specced on my two. Drove a couple of CSL's recently and all came flooding back and I was gentle with it, lifting for smoothness etc. CSL manual please.....though they never did one. Newer boxes much better.

I would LOVE an M3, to me they are just fantastic cars but while i could buy a decent example tomorrow i know i would struggle with potential bills.

Until i was confident that i could cope with the things that go wrong they will remain out of my reach. I think thats the sensible way to look at them.

If you are stretching to pay £12k for a car the chances are you will not be able to pay a £2/3k garage bill should something go badly wrong.

One day i'll own one but only when i can properly enjoy it without worrying every time i think something might be going wrong!

It's not that I'm struggling to afford the £12000 it's that I have never had £12000 to be able to spend on a car before! Just a big jump for me! :)

I know exactly how you feel. Having spent a substantial sum on an M3 - it can be daunting. However if it is everything you wanted, then go for it and don't look back!

Would like a fan fair and party poppers when I finally do

I did, but chose not to share it on the web! Unfortunately too many people who don't feel joy in someone else's success.
