Where the best place to get a red sim free 920 i still have my Cyberport order from early November but the situation a joke now.

you can get one at phones4u for £459, but its locked to EE, orange and t-mobile network. which is ok if your on those networks otherwise you will have o get it unlocked, which for the moment is a little of an unsure thing. im in the process of trying to get an unlock code from fonefunshop who offer the cheapest service of £30, but it can take up to 10 days, i applied for it 3 days ago and still waiting unfortunately. i will post here if it successfully gets unlocked, which im sure will pave the way for many others, as nobody has confirmed a service that has worked for them yet.

On the battery charge issue, even though discharging/charging completely a couple of times is not meant to matter on the 920 battery type a no. of people seem to think it has helped.

Whether that's a psychological thing, or it helps the OS calibrate things better I have no idea

Can anyone comment on the claim that a factory reset helped with battery life, and if that was for branded or unlocked phones or both?

Cheers

discharging fully and charging fully after isnt really to do with the type of battery, i believe its to calibrate the os into knowing whats whats 0 and whats full, correct me anybody if im wrong.

ive read a couple of other forums about battery issues with the 920, and nearly all have said after doing 2 or 3 full discharge and recharge cycles the phones had greatly improved battery life, many having over 24 hours of moderate use worth. i myself accidentally drained my battery fully the second day of having received my phone, and after charging it fully, the battery life seemed amazing, in about 6 hrs of moderate use it only lost 3%

also, the 8x is also having similar battery issues, and its possible the problem lies on microsofts side of things with a wp8 software glitch.

Will definitely apply the drain/charge a couple of times in that case. Worth a try!

@hank Marvin
I use audible, don't know the others. As for streaming content from your PC, I downloaded Plex just today, I'll give it a go over the weekend. There are a handful of other apps but Plex has the best reviews and the reputation :)

I looked at audible but that only plays what you download through their market doesn't it?

I already have some audio books i want to listen to so just need a player that remembers where you got to etc.

Plex transcodes and streams doesnt it? I really just wanted a simple file manager with ability to browse network pc's and to just play back content with whatever phone app required, music or video player but I guess I could use plex.

Cheers

'Audiobook reader' app seems to be a good functional one, and the trial version is fully working, just with ads which doesnt make much of a difference. you can load audio files from dropbox, and it will save your place, and there are standard audio book controls, like skip and few 30 secs

I don't know the technical reasons behind it but I can also confirm that my battery also improved tremendously after 2-3 full recharge cycles.

Infact, yesterday I was able to get nearly 30 hours out of it. A week ago it barely lasted 8 hours.

Anyone from Clove have anything yet?

This is the status of mine:(

Your item with reference ****** has been held for delivery on Monday. This is either at the request of the receiving customer or because the address is an exclusion for Saturday deliveries.

Cheers, now installing, just need a network file browser now.

I had a similar experience with my 8X, I just assumed it was maybe the calibration process and now the readout is simply more accurate.

In the first week, my battery wasn't too different to my 2 year old iPhone 4. I wasn't too fussed about that because it was something I was used to, and one of the negativesninnreviews was the battery wasn't great, so I expected it.

However, after a month of owning it, it has improved drastically on the early days. Even with moderate usage I can get through the day and still be around 50% when I plug it in at night. Got to assume that the review models hadn't been put through a few charge cycles when they were sent off.

Interestingly, I was chatting to my brother, who is thinking of getting the 920, and he watched a video review comparing the 920, HTC 8x and the iPhone 5, and it claimed that the 8x had the best battery life. Odd considering all the early reviews I saw when comparing with the 920 said the battery life on the 8x was much worse.

lol yeh but they arent available anywhere really. nothing but delays... nothing but delays.

so here is a stupid question: is there a way to see if the phone is truly network unlocked without getting a hold of a different network sim card (i.e o2)?

did that 3 times

even when connecting through my wireless to sign into my email account it says that the reception may not be available etc... but i can browse the internet no problem
