Is a 3.2ghz i7 920 and GTX 680 good enough for 2560x1440?

The board, cpu and ram will be fine. Though overclocking the cpu a bit more would help. I moved from the same board, cpu and 12gb of ram to the ib spec in sig. Performs exactly the same in games with the gtx 670 that was used in the 920 setup.

Just overclock the cpu some more the i7 920 is still a great cpu it would be a waste of money to upgrade at this time

+1, Haswell will give better performance than IB

Overclock the i7 as said. It's a great cpu. Intel made it too well tbh

Unfortunately mine isn't stable over 3.2ghz... it's an early c0/c1 stepping unit

hmm mine is too, im rock solid at 3.7, what mobo u on, my friends c0/1 got to 4.2 until he gave it a bath

i see your mb now, doesnt show sigs on the app, i have the same board, i found a good forum guide for overclocking, its worth a go

I still run an i7 920 (@4.2GHz) with a GTX680 and am perfectly happy with performance at 2560x1440 although you do need to turn settings down a little in games like BF3 and Crysis 2.
