AMD Catalyst 12.11 Official BETA 11 Plus CAP2 12.11

Hit settings in Aferburner, under the monitoring tab.

Its either unfortunate or Ubisoft have intentionally blocked it, but it doesn't appear you can modify settings with radeonpro for FC3, it just acts as if you've exited the game when you try launch.

Edit: Profile I forced stopped it from working, no joy yet though. This game is quite simply ****** for multi cards :(

How do the new cards fair?

Create a user.cfg file (save as all files) and place it in the main bf3 folder

Paste this info into it.

RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
Gametime.MaxvariableFPS 58
Render.DeviceVSyncEnable 1
WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
Render.PerfOverlayVisible 1

This will display a performance graph in the bottom corner of bf3. You should have two pretty much constant straight lines if your performance is good.

I get them @ 1440p with a single 7970. Full ultra with AA@x2 and Motion Blur Off.

Try my settings above and report back plox.

Will try them settings.

Thats all I needed to stabalise the settings I wanted to run

Did you try these settings scotty?

Doing fine....on games that actually work, though it looks like its not actually AMD's fault this time, lazy ubisoft devs.

Make highly demanding game, don't include multi-card support. Brilliant

Changing HW polling did nothing for me, the only way to get it even nearly smooth was to set a refresh rate of 60hz, dual frame rendering and in-game vsync enabled, but that makes it run at 30fps, which is still absolutely shocking.

Just going to uninstall FC3 now, I'll try it again in 6 months and hope its fixed.

I'm running farcry 3 on a single 7970 @ 1150/1719. Full ultra, aax0, gpu render 1, Vsync 1 buffer, triple buffering via D3D over rider, everything else at highest setting and getting between 45-60fps.

Is it smooth Matt? On triple screens with low settings, I am getting 80-90 fps but it just does not feel smooth. feels like the occasional frame is being missed.

It is smooth, its definitely not one of those games that you need 60fps minimum on imo.

If you find stutter try the following

Triple Buffering
PostFX Medium
GPU Render Ahead 2 or higher

Also Nvidia users should avoid HDAO as although its the best looking i believe its compute HDAO. Heats up the GPU a fair bit. Looks superb though.

Can't even get d3doverrider to open :(

What a great welcome back to crossfire this has been.

Start up D3D, find the farcry + farcry dx11 exe. Put detection level to medium, force vsync off and triple buffering on. Do this for both exe;s Should work then. :)

EDIT

Sorry i misread, not sure why it won't even open. Maybe try a sfc /scannow from a command prompt?

Yes definitely compute based HDAO, heats up my card like sleeping dogs extreme AA. Had to turn MSAA down to maintain a smooth gaming experience, locked at a smooth 60FPS on my 7950 for most of the time (except big firefights). Looks stunning but MSAA has a big performance drop on this game, poorly coded IMO. Let's hope for a decent patch.

What res are you at?

At 1440p i keep AA off as i can't really notice a difference between x0 and x2.

^ Couldn't have said it better...
The stuttering in this game is amazing, i've only just installed it and had to turn it off as my head is nearly exploding.

Might just try Cf disabled and turn AA down, my brother wants to play Co-op with me tomorrow.

99% GPU usage on both cards, everything turned to 11 and getting about 60-80fps.

Since always.

Nvidia are not smoother at all, there is no juddering or anything like that @ 30 FPS.

What I mean by juddering is that if you pit an AMD card against an NVidia card at 30FPS, the NVidia card would give a much smoother feel to it. There's a reason NVidia cards are priced above AMD cards, if they were both the same no one would buy NVidia.

What a well though out response, a perfectly reasonable reply is classified as 'trolling' and 'arguing' now. I'm stating fact as i've had both brands cards and like I said NVidia does feel smoother once the framerates drop a bit but as opposed to AMD. It seems that you have nothing of value to add here and you reply comes across as if you're a 12 year old Youtube child.

Please go and post a dedicated thread about it instead of bringing an argument to a thread where I and others have posted up helpful informative information to those looking for it.

The only reason Nvidia are more expensive is because the Nvidia fan fare talks a lot of rubbish for people idiotic enough to buy into it.

Your talking rubbish.

Back on topic...

This is absolute nonsense when comparing single GPU to single GPU. I have flip flopped from AMD to Nvidia back to AMD again since January. I currently own a GTX 680 and a HD 7970 and I have never once felt this special Nvidia "smoothness" that you refer to.

Stop trying to spread FUD. Somehow I have a feeling that you have not even tried both types of cards to come to this "conclusion".
