Student Finance - Grr...

If you have time to DJ, then you have time to get bar work.

If you have time to get bar work, then it's a regular income.

If you have time for bar work then you don't have time to DJ, so sell up.

Problem solved.

:D

DJing takes about an hour. Recently, when I've had a set, I tear myself away from coursework, head over to the place, do my hour/2 hour set, head back, carry on with coursework. :(

Boom.

Nail. On. Head.

Well, not really.

Why does it feel like I'm having to defend myself, having clearly stated my position multiple times?

This.

Because your DJ gear is not your source of income. If it was, you would have an income.

Haha :D

Well, you clearly haven't read my posts properly :)

I have.

If you can manage to be available for DJ gigs out and about at different places you should be able to commit to a few hours a week of work.

My course was just as demanding as the next and I was in Uni a lot when I was there and I still managed to hold down a 16+ hour per week job working weekends and week nights.

If you spent less time ranting on here you'd have more time for work. Seems like you're just using your course as an excuse not to go out and find a part time job!

That said, yes, Student Finance are appalling!

Another one who hasn't read my posts properly :)

I'm now sorted, the main purpose of this thread was a rant against the uselessness of SFE :)

even if you send things to them quickly it takes them a good five weeks to get around to looking at it, yes they suck, oh and they never tell you when documents are missing which sucks.

Well, no I wouldn't considering I'm on the bus to a lecture at the moment :)

It's worse than dealing with small children, as you constantly have to chase them up, even if it's something that can be sorted out really easily on their end :)

When I was at uni I had to survive from the basic loan. I worked between semesters to supplement the loan. I was doing engineering so no time to work during term. You have got to get your expenditure right down too, be ruthless (that includes not using the bus).
