Student Finance - Grr...

Well... I dont think you would get the grant tbh if your mum has just been made redundent.

Student finance use the previous years P60 from your parents to work out your grant, and in your case it will be showing that she earns enough to warrant you getting none or a small amount.

I have been at uni for 5 years, I understand how it works better than most.

Oh and i have £900 left from my lat payment in October ;)

Shayper havent you just signed to some label? surely they will be able to help you out with a tin of heinz or something!

In fairness student loans and anything government related are hugely useless, you have to chase them and keep them informed about everything at all times :(

People are reading, you just aren't willing to take on board what they are saying. Anyway continue with the Waah Waah, it's amusing.

Being 'signed' to a label means jack these days unless its to like EMI or Sony or some equally large corporate, which I highly doubt he is.

It also makes a difference if as an individual you are signed, or whether its just one of your tracks which is signed. Either way, money won't be rolling in any time soon!

Well this thread has been a great read. Makes me feel better about myself, doing lots of time at uni on my project, and working 20 hours a week aswell!

"Haven't port chased anything for ages..." OP

*post showing recent (and needless) purchases*

OP = Owned.

There are two types of students. Those who manage their money and those who haven't grown up enough (or been taught well enough). Saw a lot more of the later when I was a Uni many, many years go.

ITT OP gets burnt,

I know ppl who studied medicine and got a part time job. And medicine is one of most demanding courses there is.

Every student that refuses to get a job somehow thinks their degree is more demanding than everyone else's.

Quoted for further reinforcement :p

Even doing 40+ hours of lectures / week, plus coursework, would still leave you time to do 10 hours of shelf stacking etc per week.

Let us do some basic sums.

  1. There are 168 hours in the week.
  2. Assume a minimum of 8 hours per night sleeping leaves a total of 112 hours
  3. Assume ~ 1 hour a day for eating food / cooking dinner etc leaves a total of 105 hours
  4. Assume 60 hours / week for lectures & coursework leaves 45 hours remaining
In theory, with 45 hours of your week left you actually have enough time to hold down a full time job in addition to allowing a healthy amount of sleep and time to do tasks for Uni. Stop complaining, do something about it.

SO you think all Degrees are as demanding as each other?

Don't make me laugh, A Computer science degree is **** vs a Robotics degree

I didn't say that.

But most have more or less the same amount of work. Most students study and work part time. Heck half the staff on my shift at work are full time students.

But the OP has literlary stated that he has time to DJ and study. But cant get gigs. So what is he doing with that time that he isn't DJing with? Other than posting pics of his new gear of course ;)

No, but nearly all students who complain about not having money use this excuse.

I've seen it in medicine, I've seen it in marine biology. Medicine is tougher than most, but there is still time to do work outside of it.
