Going to give my GSM Evo 3d to my wife... but EEK! at the PAYG prices in USA

Check the network frequencies of your Evo3D, it'll only work on T-Mobile or AT&T, not both.

The USA's mobile set up sucks :D

Just looking at the PAYG plans in the USA so she can use my EVO 3D over there.

Eek!

Anyone else bought and used PAYG card over there at reasonable price for use with their phones?
Handset locks were everywhere there until recently, you might be surprised at how bad their market is (in terms of choice that is) when it comes to SIM-O. For example, you have to pay for a sim to be activated in America. Yeah, imagine that - paying ~£20 just to have a SIM enabled (the MEGA joke is they are already activated - all networks pre-activate their SIMs before distributing them these days). I doubt most people in the UK realise how good they have it compared to the USA for phones, Americans pay to recieve calls. (obviously unlimited has made this less of an issue now but it's still hilarious to me). There are also these completely bizarre charges on your bill aside from your plan which are deliberately unbundled so they can control the charge in contract (much worse than the UK changes recently).

T-Mo deals are here: http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Packages/ValuePackages.aspx?pkgcatid=simonly&line=1 2Gb/unlimited everything for $60 PCM so a fiver cheaper and you get an extra gig over AT&T

I knew about the pay to receive calls thing, but those right there are total scam prices. Europe has always been ahead in the mobile sector. You can barely get service without being ripped off.

Thanks Myshra (again)

p.s. Looking like $45 or $50 per month (28 to 33 pounds a month) JUST for a sim card that is acceptable. Amazingly bad deal. They PAYG deals actually seem completely tailored to make the contracts look good (when they are not, they are freakin' terrible).

Well.. as it turns out.. she fortunately already had a T-Mobile sim card she was using as she lost her other phone. It worked like a charm, and the wife is indeed using the Evo 3D out there now (with mobile data turned off as it's extortionate).

Her brother was getting a good deal and could get a Samsung S2 for a reasonable cost and unlimited contract ($35 a month, but with multiple phones).

Now I'm on the hunt for a cheap O2X or something as this vivaz is killing me lol.
