You'd be far better off in the mobile and tablet form.
Big thread here, with a list of most tablets, allthough a lot aren't out yet.
Kind of depends what you want.
3 main catogries
Arm - only runs metro apps, long battery life, lightest and smallest package
Atom - middle of the road slightly larger, but runs all windows software
I3/i5/i7 - most powerful, but large, heavy and "poor" battery life in comparison to the other two.

Yep, mobile versions of those CPUs.same as in ultra books.

I would love a Win 8 tablet that one can also use like a netbook in that I could download files, or transfer pics etc onto an external hd.

That would be any off them.
They all (well probably one exception) have USB ports. So connect what you want.

I'm basically looking for a good tablet that doesnt cost £900. It needs to be around 10"'s too.

For what? Is win RT all you need? Or do you need a conventional desktop? Does it need to include a keyboard, what size hdd, what's the budget.

I'm pretty sure OcUK had a samsung tablet running win8 pro at the shop opening day? It was about £700 from what the rep told me. Was a bit on the weighty side, but that's to be expected with the hardware it was running. I have to say it was very cool.

My boss has the Samsung Series 7 Slate, which for the tab itself (less the dock etc) I think can be had for ~£699. Really nice bit of kit.
