Seasonic X-Series 650w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply @ £89.99 inc VAT

CA-027-SS_400.jpg

The very first full modular multi-output ATX, high-wattage power supply that has ever obtained the 80PLUS® Gold certification is introduced by Seasonic, this coveted power supply is named “X” and is offered in various versions.
Featuring a patent pending design of “DC Connector Module with Integrated VRM”, the X Series is set to achieve both near-perfect DC to DC conversion and fully modularized design without compromising efficiency. After a long wait, finally there is a product that delivers the complete package, ultra-high efficiency, greatly improved dynamic response, and customizable cable arrangement that is tailored to meet any individual’s needs.
The X Series adopts a clever “Hybrid Silent Fan Control” design, which offers three distinct operation modes, fanless mode, silent mode, and cooling mode. The X automatically adjusts fan mode and speed according to the ambient temperature level. This brand new design not only optimizes heat dissipation, but also prolongs lifespan of the system by reducing unnecessary fan rotation. To make the X Series even more robust and exciting, Seasonic offers Sanyo Denki San Ace Silent Fan on X, the best fan there is in the industry.

Because the 650w would have been plenty for my system. I only bought the 1250w at the time because it was on offer, and majorly overkill :p

That's a great price for this PSU. The fan doesn't even spin up when the PC is idle and it is also very quiet when gaming. I haven't actually heard it at all, whereas my Corsair PSU was pretty noisy even when idle.

I think I paid around £110 or so from here a while back. Worth every penny and at this price it's well worth the investment if you want a very quiet system. I'm half tempted to pick up another for my second PC but I really need to get my main PC upgraded ready for the new games in 2013.

Ordered the Seasonic for another rig, surprised it's the 650 as I thought the 660 had replaced it.

I already own a x650 (3 years) and x1050, they are brilliant PSU's. As someone else pointed out I never hear the fan active. The PSU filters on my cases are always clean so there's certainly very little air moved into them.

The x650 is more efficient than some other x series PSU's, certainly has better low power efficiently and very marginally higher peak efficiency than my x1050.

Another point worth mentioning: When I first fitted my original x650 it was to replace a OCZ StealthXtream 600w on an i5 750. The improved voltage regulation allowed me to use lower voltages on the CPU / chipset compared to when running the OCZ.

Hmmm, if the RMA base is actually the US I wouldn't touch the thing.

I had a problem with the ATX cable, one of the pins was bent so it wouldn't fit into my mobo. Sent an email around 9pm, got a return email from them about half an hour later or so. Sent off some pics the next day for 'documentation purposes', they weren't very clear so I doubt they were actually checking to see if it was bent, they sent out the replacement cable free from Holland or Germany (can't remember which :D) and it arrived two days later.

All in all, some of the best service I've ever encountered and would happily buy from them again, they do make cracking PSUs... although I guess I didn't have to send anything to them, they'd probably be more than happy to pay for postage after the experience I had with them.

Are these new 650w replacing the 660w? Just checked and the one I bought from OcUK a few months ago is a 660w version.
