Are you proud of what you do?

I'm proud of what I do and enjoy work immensely, working in one of the top hotels in the country with some of the best managers and staff....no denying its hard work, and not to everyone's taste but I enjoy it

Has lead to some great opportunities and will hopefully continue too as I progress further.....

Yes. I/we help lots of people from many different companies. We have very nice people working for our clients, and they are always showing their appreciation and it makes me feel proud of what I do for them.

"Thank you so much"
"That was quick!"
"Wow you guys are legends"
"How did you manage to do that?"
"How on earth did you fix that!"
"You're a genius"
"What would we do without you"

Hear things like that about 30 times a day. So yeah I'm proud alright :)

I am proud of what i do. The constant foreign excursions are starting to take a toll on the family though.
Its always a real honour to help save someone's life and is always a team effort.

I save lives from fire (and flood, RTA's, building collapses, etc). I'm not proud per se, as that is not the emotion that is felt when knowing you and your colleagues are the ones who have made the difference.

Who do you work for dude?

I'm looking at getting some decent pricing for 17 micron, proper edging though and you need to be National ;)

Emailed you in trust mate!

For hand film should be able to give you an alternative to save you plenty of cash!

I work for the BBC. It's amazing to work in such a diverse and huge scale corporation. In that sense, I am proud of what I do. The Jimmy Savile saga, however, has kind of put a downer on the experience.

The Daily Mail get a bonus if they can get the BBC on the front page, so any opportunity to create a story, they will. :(

I take 999 calls for an ambulance service, so I also (sometimes) save lives and (more often) take care of people when they have too much to drink or are, for other reasons, unable to look after themselves.

It can be a thankless task sometimes and there are shifts when you feel like you haven't actually helped every one and everything is a massive and unneeded fight but the shifts where I've made a difference make it worth it.

phonemonkey appropriate name!

i watched 999 whats your emergancy? on chan4 and i have no idea how you deal with half of the timewasters who phone up.

respect to you sir :D

Working in healthcare I feel very similar to you. Proud but not appreciated for what we do.

I work for a hospital, not in a medical role but I get a lot of appreciation for the work I do from the staff I deal with. I'm not overly proud of the job, but the thanks I get from people makes it worthwhile.

Thank you! That show was a bit of an eyeopener for some of my friends that don't work in healthcare

Student :) Win. Don't really care either way.

Next year, the job I'm going into it (which I think a couple of members know), is a career that is particularly judged. If I explain what I do, everybody's opinion is the same.

It's not that I don't enjoy the career path, I find it plenty interesting, and I'm proud to have gotten where I have, that said, everybody's views on the matter are so judgemental I don't go into details, and just say 'actuary'. Most people don't know what it means anyway...

I guess the teaching is quite rewarding, good seeing people progress. However I'm sick of being asked "Oh, you must speak lots of languages eh?".

However, the new job that I'm going into next year is up there with one of the most hated so I'll have to respond again in 6 months!

I get asked the same question....

What job are you going into Ahleckz?

im a student social worker, I think when im actually working I will feel proud of being able to help people, but I get annoyed of all the retarded media stories blaming social workers for things, when most of the time its management or poor policy.

I also work part time in Healthcare, its rewarding working in a hospital, but seriously people need to stop treating it like a hotel and being horrible to nurses.

Not necessarily proud of the job but proud of what I've achieved in order to get here. If you'd told me 10 years ago, whilst I was in the process of failing a degree that I hated, what I'd be doing now I would have laughed in your face as I've been able to do and achieve things that I never thought I could.

I don't take pride but only because I'm a harsh self critic who always feels there's room for improvement, even if the result was very good in itself. More generally I am quite passionate that my job is keeping my company running and feel quite valued, but pride is not something I feel on a day to day basis.
