Super Veyron to hit 288mph and rumoured to do 0-62mph in 1.8 seconds

The amount of energy it would need to get down onto the road would be immense.

Indeed, but 2wd drag cars made in a shed manage sub 1 second times, it's not beyond the realms of possibility for a 4wd high tech computer designed missile to do it in 1.8 seconds with road legal sticky tyres.

It's never going to manage 1BHP per KG as that figure doesn't include driver weight.

Also, 1.8 seconds to 60 is going to require a incredible launch control system. You would need to prevent the wheels spinning but be constantly at the point where they're about to lose grip while keeping the engine in the power band so you get constant power.

Poor gearbox..

It will if it has around 1700bhp (Adjust the extra hp for driver's weight :p)

If a Group B RS 200 could do 0-60 in 2.8 back in 1985 ( I still have the Autocar magazine issue with that figure splashed all over the front cover - somewhere) then , in ideal conditions, why not this nutjob on wheels?
