What's your ice/snow removal strategy?

Apparently hot water can freeze quicker than cold.

If you wash a car in the cold you are better off using cold water. (I do anyway even if it's warm)

Doesnt say much about the temperature profile of the glass that water vapour in the air subsequently freezes to though?

The more heat you can get into the glass the better. Fortunately you dont need to use boiling water for that one though.

Your actually better washing your car with warm water, for the main reason that it keeps your hands warm...

Fill empty 2 litre coke bottle with lukewarm water (same temperature as your hand)
Start engine, turn on heated seats and screens
poor water over windows + turn windscreen wipers on
get into car
realise the inside of the windscreen is also frozen
wait a few minutes for the inside to defrost, by which time the outside has refrozen.
rant to self...

eventually drive to work.

Haha, did it exactly like that this morning. Walked out and poured tap water over the windows. Looked all smug as the ice broke away before my very eyes......

Then spent too long faffing around with the radio and it all froze again before I wiped it off!

I do this too :p

Only takes about a minute and I'm good to go. I'd not dare leave engine running and go inside where I live.

I wouldn't either anymore for that reason, and my 1.8t engine is notorious for it's oil consumption, so leaving it idleing is not good!
