I presently have an Evo X FQ360 which is just over a year old, but I've been having problems with it for the last 5 weeks and it's starting to annoy me. It's still under warranty but they've been unable to solve the problem yet.. every week the car gets collected on a Monday, re-delivered "fixed" on a Friday, I find it is still the same so it gets picked up on the Monday, re-delivered on a Friday, I find it is still the same so it gets picked up on the Monday and so on :( it's a shame as I've had a fews Evo's and never had a problem with any before.

Problem is I can't find anything that I like at the moment, they don't make Evo's now so I can't get a new one of those. I don't like Audi's, not very keen on BMW's, thee UK Subaru's look horrible, the Nissan 370 looks OK but not the best performance. I actually quite like the look of the Toyota GT86 but it's too underpowered.

The Nissan GTR keeps shouting to me but at £75,000 it's more than I'd like to spend :(

Not sure what I'd put my budget at but ideally around £40,000 or less.

Am I missing something or is there nothing much in that performance bracket now ??

If you want a Nissan GTR then why not get a secondhand one? They're under £40k now.

I don't buy used cars, well not for many many years so if I was to buy one I'd want it to be about a year old and have warranty which I don't think I'd get for 40k or close to that.

I recognise that car, it had the wrap recently I think, 2009 though which is older than I'd like as I tend not to keep cars for that long.

if you don't keep it long thats a good buy, gearbox only item that will go bang as been replaced.

i don't think thats the car with poor wrap thats another one. looking at engine bay its white so can't be a white wrap.

How about something like a focus RS?.

Do they still make them?

I'd actually consider one as I watched a good video the other day of an rs vs gtr and they said the rs was more run in the real world.. I wouldn't buy a used one though

Found it top hat and tail:

What I meant was I've not had a car over 3 years old for a long time.. If I had the problem like I ave with my current car it would be costing me a lot if out of warranty

I don't get the obsession with buying new, sure you can still get a warranty and you also aren't hit with that huge wall of depreciation!

evo x, got a few problems as general.

mine had a few e.g. engine rods, alarm going off when driving, gearbox slipping, cam chain being replaced in 20,000 miles (they say should last 100,000) and ayc diff

i think thats about it so far, also had mirrors fail and audio system.

whats actually wrong with the evo?.

Keeps going into limp mode when accelerating, normally around 5000 revs in 3rd gear so it looses power and revs really high even when idling. 1st they thought it was the maf sensor, then a hose from the turbo, last guess was a faulty ecu.. But so far nothing has cured it. I've not had a working car for about 5 weeks and been driving various hire cars (which they pay for). :(
