Bought a BenQ XL2410T off my friend as he had won an XL2420T.. Having problems getting it in 120hz though.

"Incorrect Cable - please use the dual link DVI cable that came with your monitor"

So I've bought one off ebay (I'd post link but probably against competitor rules etc) and still having the same message come up.
Ebay advert described as below
"DVI-D Male to DVI-D 25 Pin Dual Gold Link Cable"

"Connectors: DVI-D (24+1 pin) Male to DVI-D Dual Link (24+1 pin) Male"

Any ideas??

Could be your graphics card isn't dual link supported, mine just cost me a far bit msi 7970 lightning and that isn't.Had to order a displayport to dvi d dual adapter.Fingers crossed it works

What graphics card do you have, if any?

The last thread I can see you made you were planning on using the integrated GPU on an i3-3220 and a Gigabyte Z77-D3H motherboard.

The DVI-D output from the motherboard is only single link so won't support 120Hz at 1920x1080 no matter what cable you use.

You probably don't need any more assistance as spoffle seems to have nailed the problem on the head.

Just in case things still aren't working properly you may have to dig a bit deeper.

The correct DVI connector on the graphics card + a dual link DVI cable should give you 120Hz.

As your friend must still have the original dual link DVI cable to your monitor, and a 120Hz monitor you could try your cable and graphics card with, is it possible for you to pay him a visit for a bit of testing?

Yeah, tried both DVI connectors on the graphics card, also tried unplugging my second monitor and running the XL2410T by itself.

My friend lives about 120miles away so testing is out of the question, however he's going to send me the original DVI cable, and if that works then I think I'll be leaving bad feedback for the ebay seller!

It doesn't necessarily mean it's not a dual link cable, it could be something else. To automatically leave negative feedback isn't right, at least let the seller know you think there's an issue.

Is the seller "SAFEKOM"? I've had quite a few dual link DVI cables that work from them, they are definitely dual link, and are definitely working as such because I have 2560x1440 monitors that only work with dual link DVI.

It's supposed to, that's not what i meant though. Just because it's not doing 120Hz doesn't necessarily mean it's not actually a dual link DVI cable and that you should look in to it a bit more before deciding to give negative feedback based on an assumption.

As I said, if it is SAFEKOM I've had a load of dual link DVI cables from them that work fine.

It will be the cable I have two cheap dual link cables from ebay and neither allowed my 700D to run at 120hz.

When I used the supplied cable it worked fine straight away. When I looked into it a lot of the cheap ebay supposed dual link cables are not wired as dual link. They have the pins but not the cabling needed and are wired as single link.

I actually cut one of my plugs open to have a look and low and behold the cable was not fully wired 24+1 as needed for dual link.

Try a better cable the one OCUK sells works fine.

Yeah I had a quick google yesterday and other people had the same issue with cheap cables not being wired up.

I messaged the seller last night complaining that it wasn't supporting 120hz and he was only too happy to give a refund without wanting the cable back, apologizing etc
