The insurance on my car expired yesterday (10/12/12) I had it in my head it expires tomorrow the 12th.

I have just released my mistake and insured the vehicle, I am prepared to take what ever comes but what is the likely fine/punishment if there is to be one?

I think they stick a plaster on one of your eyebrows and then pull it off really slowly.

Or it could be stoning,
I heard they were trying to bring EU law into line with the middle east, so stoning is more likely.

If you haven't been pulled by now then I don't see it being an issue. You're lucky though, if you'd gone past an ANPR camera or been an unlucky pull (Lots of it at this time of the year) then you'd be boned.

You'll be fine. If you want to be 100% make a note of the insurance company and the policy number and keep it in the car for the next week or so.

To answer the other part of your question, I believe it's 6 points and a fine for no insurance, they also like to take your car off of you if pulled over.

It isn't showing up on MID at the minute, I won't be using the car today but I will phone the insurance company later.

I've seen it take a few days to a week to appear before. You will be fine though, we used to get calls from the police for verification all the time at the roadside for this reason.

I'm genuinely amazed that your insurance didn't auto-renew.

Most insurance companies love to royally shaft their customers with inflated automatic renewals prices.

Your be fine, my track car was left un-insured but not registered Sorn (dvla fault) which obviously is now illegal as it has to be one to the two.

Fast forward 10 months I get a letter saying i owe them £100 fine as it's in limbo, I'm pretty sure in saying they were the have noticed your car not being insured for a day.

Dont worry you will be fine.

Its not an INSTAfine the second your insurance lapses, that would be retarded. If you drove the car you got lucky though as the po po would have nicked you.

From experience you get around 2 weeks before you get a "reminder" from the dvla about your uninsured car.
