Hi folks, first poster here.

Been looking recently at upgrading my graphics card to a 670, but not really sure if I'll gain much more out of it than with my current card.

I'm currently running a EVGA 3GB 660Ti Superclock+

Is the performance between my current card and the 670 going to be much different and worth the extra money upgrading?

Any help appreciated, cheers.

Rest of the specs are:

Silverstone Sugo SG05 case
Silverstone 450w SFX PSU
Intel i5 3450 Ivy Bridge 3.1Ghz
TeamGroup Elite 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz
EVGA 3GB 660Ti Superclock+
Asus H77 ITX motherboard

Nah not really worth going from one to the other. You could have perhaps looked at a 670 when you purchased initially but I would wait until next generation now.

Thought as much, do you think it'd be worth splashing out on a 680/7950 at this point? Or would the performance increase still not be Worth it?

I mean, there's nothing wrong with my current card, plays games like a boss, but I just like to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck for a decent price.

That means keeping what you have, or you lose money when you sell it, plus pay yet more towards new card.

If you change it now when games are running fine, it's just money down the toilet.

I meant if there's something else out there for a decent price that offers a lot of value for money, but the 670 isn't that it seems, I just worded it wrong.

Well the GTX 670 may actually offer the better value for the money if you didn't already have a capable graphics card.
If you had a HD5850 or a GTX460 then GTX 670 or HD7950 would have been bang for the buck choices.

The 7950 is a far faster card (relatively speaking) when compared overclocked against an overclocked 660Ti but unless the games you play are struggling there's no point upgrading IMO.

Think ill hang onto the 660ti for a while then, even though the 7950 is awfully tempting, but will probably end up costing me the best part of £100 more.

Yeah if we're talking less than £50 then I would be tempted in your position but that is way, way too much to pay.

It's faster but not £100 faster. It will last longer as well but you're better off selling up on the next generation. :)

Ah I see, probably would have been a worthwhile investment when I build the PC, but if I decided to get one now I'd more than likely have to upgrade the PSU as well thus costing even more.

I really don't think theres a lot in it between 660ti and a 7950 at least not at 1080p

The 660ti will beat 7950 in some games and benchmarks.

If we're talking stock clocks then I agree. But you can't mean that as you quoted me when I said when overclocked.

When overclocked it's not even really close at all. The 670 and 7950 are comparable but on the latest 12.11 drivers the 7950 is a bit faster than even a 670 in most games.

A 660Ti overclocks too I hear you say! It does but only to around stock 670 performance. A 7950 marginally surpasses or is even with an overclocked 670. :)
