RIP Patrick Moore

And who are you and what gives you the right to pass judgement on anything I've said, this has gone way beyond the single line comment that I originally posted.

Priorities?? Well maybe I have got them right because I usually keep my true grief to my loved ones closest family and friends, I'm not about to jump on a twitter feed etc to say how torn to pieces I am over ....again said it before someone I never knew which happens to be a renowned astronomer or whatever he was, his family I wish the best for but I'm sorry... No no I'm not.... to say last night I slept great and I recon tonight will go just as we'll.

The comment in my original post has got so strewn way out of proportion, I'm not about to de-rail this thread but it seems its being done regardless of what I say anyway.

People jumping on this fashionable fake public grief need to look closer to home, these are the same people who probably have elderly relatives making the daily choice between heating their homes or eating... Perhaps some of this grief could better well spent closer to home.

It's easy to say rip just to fit in, you try and say it when it's staring you in the face.... Husband wife child pet etc.

Oh shut up for god sake.

Exactly my thoughts

I already thought Elrein was a bit dim posting what he did, and then he posted this just to round it all off:

I could honesty care less.....

It's "couldn't care less" you obtuse moron. Unless you really did mean to tell us that you do care....in which case you're still an obtuse moron.

If you're going to post flamebait, then at least have the decency to not massacre the English language while you're at it.

You mean like when you payed your respects to a member on here whos cat got run over?

Or like posting "Sad news" in the R.I.P ABIT thread?

Or is it just celebrities that you hate? I see one of your posts got deleted in the Whitney Houston thread for being disrespectful.

You're an angry little man aren't you!:)

Yeah felt like posting again after watching the docu - was really good, still annoying that the sky at night because of its ungodly programming time is missed by so so many people, especially kids...

Doubt youll see anyone beat that record for presenting a single show (unbroken except for 1 show) for so many decades

ps3ud0

Watching this documentary on bbc1 atm is making me quite sad:(, but also in complete awe of the man. Such a great guy.

He will be missed

Indeed! A nice little documentary, and some lovely stories, eg: from Heather Couper!

Ultimately very saddening though :(

I suspect a good lump of the next Sky At Night will be dedicated to him surely? A then a portion will then attempt to be business as usual in an attempt to set off with the new presenters...?

I recorded it as I was out with my Telescope last night, doing something I haven't done for years, studying the stars in the Orion group and all because of an old Sir Patrick article I found in one of my old Sky At Night Newsletters from the 90s.

Knackered today though :(, will watch the documentary later :)

Stop with the personal attacks. Enough already.

Don't derail the thread every one, it's not the place for it.

The program was a very nice little homage to him!

Any circumstances. If you have a problem with another users post, report it or contact a Don / UB.

Aye, been there, done that.......I would have bought the T shirt, but it was too subjective and the circumstances were not quite right, apparently!!!

Anyway...wrong thread so edited my post. Delete as appropriate.

Watched the docu last night on bbc1 , really interesting and very sad , miss him.

It was a shame when the Full Eclipse got blocked out by clouds in the UK ,which was the only place Sir Patrick never got to see the Full Eclipse and on the day its was Cloudy , typical UK weather.

Damn, that full eclipse was the day of my daughters funeral, a doubly sad ending to the program.

I remember the 25th anniversary Sky at Night being on, and thinking at the time 'this is a bit depressing, it can't last much longer he's getting on a bit'. 25 more years. Wow.
