Far Cry 3 Thread

I don't understand how the v-sync options work in this. With it on everything feels slow and unresponsive.

Off is smooth, but tears occasionally.

Tried the Sweetfx setting posted earlier, but they made everything look over-saturated and plasticy.

The only thing I can think of, is the cut scene CPU dependant ?

Edit: Maybe. http://www.techspot.com/review/615-far-cry-3-performance/page6.html

Like most of today's games, Far Cry 3 can use four cores or threads, so it's no surprise that dual-core chips suffer, as evidenced by the Phenom II X2 and Athlon II X2. However, core/thread efficiency is also extremely important and this is where the Intel has an edge, with the i7-3770K and i7-3960X topping our chart.

That is the strange thing, it isn't like it slows down because of older hardware. It massively slows down and only during the cutscenes which suggests something is wrong somewhere.

It is super smooth the rest of the time.

Still haven't fixed this :(

Edit: It lives!!! But I don't know why :p

Could it be depth of field? That is always usually ramped up in cutscenes.

Anyone else get wierd texture / shadow rectangles popping over textures, and found a fix? Not sure what's causing it, it's like shadows from buildings behind a hill for example show through on the opposite side!

I7 and 7970m, so should run it fine!

haven't rage quit a game this much in years, sick of trying to take outposts just to realise theres 2 of those armoured dudes / bullet sponges knocking around that are almost invincible :(

That and when you try to sneak up on them Jason forgets how he's able to leap canyons and climb vines, and is stumped by a small incline, thus revealing his position which immediately alerts everyone within about 200m :(

Will probably leave it now until they patch all the stupid stuff out.

I hit a brick wall tbh. I think I am quite near the end but I have not played it in over a week. I jusg got sick of all the QTEs, the ui, the messages etc. I will probably return to it next week and try that ui mod

Im enjoying it currently, i hope there is some DLC in the near future, maybe some other cartel moving in on the island or possibly something about the japanese ties it has.

I bought this as a massive fan of Far Cry back in its day.
Really disappointed that instead of a good FPS with stunning visuals I get an irritating -collect plants and craft bags, take outposts, make syringes RPG.

I'm really enjoying it too. Yes it's really flawed in places but other aspects are great fun. Most fun I've had in a single player FPS since either Stalker or Crysis :)

Likes:
Fun take downs
bow + arrow hunting :D
very pretty
animals add some extra fun
nice stealth mechanics (although too easy)
AI is interesting and unpredictable
Some great characters - Vaas / the Doctor

Dislikes:
AI reactions are slow even on high difficulty. Is there a mod that makes them react quicker?
Driving mechanics as in every other farcry game are abysmal. (less twitchy steering please!)

This is infuriating, I've tried seven times now to get buffaloo skin, I've been killed by a different thing every time. A buffalo killed me a tiger killed me five seconds after getting the skins.
