GIGABYTE WindForce GeForce GTX 680 OC edition any good?

Great card. Had mine for a few months now. Very quiet and cool, never tops 55C when gaming (and thats in a Fractal R3 with pretty average airflow). Gigabyte warranty is supposed to be very good too although I don't have first hand experience.

Awesome thanks.

Have you tried overclocking? And if so what have you managed?

Thanks.

I had that card it's very nice.

Why a 680 out of interest? You could save money and go the 7950/670 route depending on your preference and be within 5% of a 680.

Can save a serious wadge!

Having bought a 680 in the first week of it's release, I do regret it a bit. Money can definitely be saved by buying a higher-end OC'd 670 for about £80-£100 cheaper.

This makes good sense. As an owner of 2 680's, I would advise a 670 unless you intend to hard mod it for higher voltages and then clock the proverbials off it :)

Agreed, if the op requires nvidia specific features such as physx or 3d vision, a high end 670 would be a better choice. Or if brand isnt a pre requisite, a 7950 represents incredibly good value.

If I were you I'd go for the 7970. Faster and cheaper. Or if you want to go nvidia still, 670 windforce and clock it to hell. Mine hits 1300mhz! They're excellent cards and you won't be disappointed whichever way you go.

Another vote for the Windforce GTX 670 here.

Both mine have been solid, even if I have changed one for a EVGA FTW.

eyetrip, how did you find sli with x2 wf 670's, interested in what sort of temps you were getting on them.

I can't run the two windforces in sli - wasn't brilliant when I had atx board, but impossible with current matx.

Hence selling one which is now replaced with EVGA FTW. Temps are still high with both topping out around 80, but acceptable. That is with them running around 1150 to 1200 or so.

With 2 x windforce top card would easily exceed 90C before I would shut down whatever I was testing temps with.

They are good coolers for single card, but not so much for sli.

Thats what i was worried about. Had two wf 460's in sli and experienced very high temps with them. Board spacing is pretty good on my current board, (P8 Z77 V Pro). May give it a try though when funds permit. Thanks for answering.:)

You'd be better off getting one of the exhaust out the back 670s on the 680 PCB with the 680 cooler and pairing that with the Windforce. The only reason two get hot together is because they're recycling hot air.

By doing this and putting the exhausting card at the bottom you end up with decent all round temperatures.

When I ran 680 SLI with a reference 680 and a GB WF 3x clocked all the way up to 1270 MHz neither card thermally throttled and although it wasn't the quietest in the world it was not what I'd consider LOUD.

The WF card actually struggled to get above 60c most of the time. The reference card ran between 63-68c most of the time. Obviously with a custom fan profile.

Sounds like the best option Rusty, noise wouldnt be a problem Had sli reference cooled 470's, they dont come much louder than they were. Current 670 is clocked at 1310mhz, rarely ventures over 60c on auto fan.

I was going to go windforce SLI but after reading a lot about temps I don't think I will.

What card should I buy for the top slot? Should I keep it as the windforce or put an ASUS DCUII TOP card there? What would be the best combination of cards really.

Windforce at the top; exhausting card like the EVGA FTW at the bottom. :)
