Its probably already been said, but
FOG LIGHTS! especially when they're being used instead of headlights, and there isn't any damn fog.
Extra 14 bhp though, innit bruv.
e : ^ I actually prefer the Americans' upbeat approach to most things and it is far more bearable than the constant bleating whine which weakly escapes the down-turned mouth holes of most miserable Brits.
I can relate to this as my Uncle is from California. I wouldn't mind but he's been here for over 20 years and is still obnoxiously loud and enthusiastic about every little thing and still has the American accent to go along with it.
Also while on the subject of Americans, I hate how they mix up the day and month when writing the date. Also how they have infected our language with words like 'douche nozzle'.
The date thing is a real bug bare for me too.
In my work I liaise closely between colleagues in the US and UK, having to switch between and recognise the different date formats can be an annoyance.

It massively affects coding as well.
We should agree a standard and stick to it, just like we did with the definition of a billion, even though it is plain wrong.
