BMW has released first pictures and details of the new four-door 552bhp M6 Gran Coupe
The first four-door model to wear the M6 badge comes complete with a snarling 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with double-clutch transmission, sending it from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds as it takes on the Mercedes CLS 63 AMG for super-saloon honours.
Based on the 6 Series Gran Coupe, the new car has a unique M bodykit, which includes an aggressive front spoiler, flared wheelarches, side skirts and four exhaust pipes in the rear diffuser. It also has 20-inch alloys, a lowered ride height and a weight-saving carbon-fibre roof.
Dynamic dampers are fitted as standard, as is an M button with a host of steering and throttle settings. Ceramic brakes, however, are an optional extra.
The interior comes with leather upholstery and rear climate control. Boot space is 1,265 litres.
The Gran Coupe should be the best-selling M6 in the UK, with prices expected to start from £98,500 when it arrives in 2013. That’s £25,000 more than the similarly powered M5 saloon.
I think the price is atrocious. I do like it, but to pay £25k over an M5 and the M5 is perfectly capable and infact better looking well in my opinion. I know I know, one is a saloon and the other a coupe. Still I do feel it is too expensive. We are talking R8 money!
