Watercooling noob

They are sold as a bundle and i'm pretty sure there kits from XSPC, not made up from OCUK as there in a proper branded XSPC kit box...

Yes, a single 360 would be enough to cool those components with little noise.
@Kaap, that is really poor. Is the dual D5 pump/res supposed to be a sealed unit from XSPC or is it put together by OcUK? If its the latter then I truly believe someone at OcUK who puts together pump kits isn't sure what they are doing. Earlier in the year I had a D5 with top combo, first one arrived cracked (too tight) the replacement leaked (too slack). I know Cleee had the same pump/top combo as me which was also too slack.

My pump combo (albeit different) came in its own marked "XSPC" box
Mine was the single D5 one however, i doubt OCUK would be responsible for attaching the pumps, not sure about making up the kits though...?

Really unlucky though Kaap...Still no word from OCUK?

Tbh you'd be better off starting your own thread, giving someone a spec/advise can take a while.

Yep. Leaked all over the place :mad:

Ahh I just asked as I thought it may be the case that XSPC make the res but it ships without pumps and then OcUK fit/pack pumps.

My raystorm box wasn't wrapped, though the block was evidently 100% brand new :)

Speaking of which I'm ditching my raystorm on rebuild in favour of a Kryos HF.

Not a cube any more :(

Since then I found out I have a kid on the way so room is optimal, so sticking with tower, depending what cash flow is like I'll either be modding my 800D (if I'm broke) or I'll be buying an XSPC H1 tower case.

Again depending on cash flow I'll either be starting the modding in the coming weeks, otherwise it will be straight after xmas.

I would have gone for a Koolance 370SI block (excellent performance and reviews) but I just don't like the look of them unfortunately.

I have big ideas for the re-build but what happens in the end I'm not sure :p even going as far as custom backplates for my GPU's, custom midplates and front panels for cases as well as some other treats.

I'm now ditching anything thats plexi completely. The two plexi components in my loop, D5 pump top and Raystorm clamping bracket have both started to fracture, so will be 100% copper/stainless/nickel/delrin/acetal from now on.

The res comes in a box with the metal mounting bracket for the pumps. The one pump that was supplied was just loose in the kit box(no individual packaging). There are no assemblely instructions which is a bit worrying going by some of the comments about broken/leakage problems.

Still no word, hopefully I will hear something tomorrow.

The worst part about things like this and it has probably happened to nearly everybody on these forums is finding the time to do a project like this then having it derailed through no fault of your own. At the end of this I will probably get the missing/faulty parts replaced but I will never get my time back. Still I am in good company, the above has probably happen to nearly everyone on this forum at one time or another.

Having a look on XSPC's own shop page, they don't seem to sell a combo of dual res with dual pumps so it would appear the pumps are added by OcUK, so looks like someone hasn't added the second pump...

PGI am i right in thinking your going to speak to coldzero about some custom stuff? been looking at stuff for my tj07 so will be interested to know what there quality is like!

The good news is when had a faulty pump combo I had a replacement in hand 48hours after sending it :)
5UB will kick some ass and get it sorted.

@zx, coldzero stuff looks top quality, check pwgreeno's build logs, he used quite a lot of coldzero & pulse modding parts in both his 800d and tj07.

Does the pump/res combo in the link below use rubber o rings between the pumps and the reservoir. I have the above as part of my w/c kit but there are no assemblely intructions and with the pumps one came with an o ring the other did not. Both pumps came with big screw on collars which are not part of the kit.

I also saw a review for a pump/res combo on youtube which is similar but not quite the same that did not use an o ring.

Please help

Thanks

Give gregster or one of the other guys that have an xspc d5 bay res a shout, I'm sure the mounting method will be the same on both types.

I would think an oring is required though...

yup and supplied with the pump just incase the res doesn't have one the pump always does

If you bought the pumps from us give us a ring as all pumps should come with an o ring.

MAny a pump I have put together and very few have had a ring missing. Plus we probably have some spares :)

Ordered an XSPC D5 and an Alphacool D5 from OCUK and neither had o-rings even though they are shown in the pics on their webby, thankfully the EK top had one in the box!
