7970/50 CrossFireX+2500K to i7-3770K for BF3/General Gaming Worth £35/£55?

Currently using [email protected] with 797/50 CrossFireX, is it worth the move for a total cost of £55(or ~£35 with a lucky advent offerOcUK)?

I also use Tridef for AMD 3D which is cpu dependant, in theory the extra threads should help?

After finally smashing the DD off of my elcheapo 7950 and fitting my AC 5870 Extreme 5870>6950>7950(what a ******* buy!!!) with a new bracket and shim@£19 delivered, I finally have some oomph in CrossFire.

I can now get a semi stable XFX 900/1375(In CrossFire/950/1375-single mode) oc to 1100/1425 100% stable using the old warhorse AC cooler.

Playing BF3 online mostly and some SD amongst others-then FC3/HM when they get fixed.

Crysis 3 is nearly here too(couldn't say no for £9), so CrossFire 'might' have use of the better cpu?

For the money mentioned(selling on my 2500K+MSI P67/couple of games), thoughts please, bearing in mind it's not a lot to upgrade and I do like new toys especially for little cash.

Agreed.

I went from an i5 to an i7. The gains aren't huge but when it costs so little to upgrade it would be daft not to.

I noticed (albeit small) gains even with a single card so im sure you should with a multi gpu setup.

For 120Hz monitor, I would agree it's worth it for such little cost, especially with your graphic set up.

The other thing about getting a 3770k is there is some good future proofing.

I've got AC3 on the PS3. Regret it a little after dealing with the plunging frame rates and the not so good graphics.

Thanks for the input guys, probably will go for it.

I'll hold off a touch(as it's a busy time for me right now), so I'll keep my eye on prices and see if they come back down to the £230 mark again since it's the season of Scrooge.

Not very keen on AC series but I'll let you know how I get on with C3 greg.
