Hi Guys,

Final stage of my build, got everything plugged in and wired in except my SSD my HD and optical drive.

My PSU had 2 sata power cables with it with multiple sata connectors on, and i have 3 devices to power.

Am I able to connect 2 devices to the one cable or do I need to buy another sata power cable?

thanks for your help guys.

Just checking, didnt want one drive to have no power, unsure as this is my first build, if i could id give you my free bag of haribo for the speedy response :)

Machine failed to boot by doing this, another sata power cable it required, have to wait until this evening to get the 2TB HD powered

What did you order in the end Leigno?

As already mentioned you can connect multiple drives to the sata power lead, you are only limited by the connectors and wether they reach each component.

If the rig wont start, make sure you have connected the aux power connector on the mobo (it's in the top left of the mobo 4/8pins). If you are using the Zalman Z9 case, the power button comes disconnected. When you pop off the front panel you will see the two green cables that need hooking up.

Confused, if your PSU has the cable with multiple SATA connectors then it should be able to power it ??

When you have all your drives connected and powered, maybe check in the BIOS that your loading from your boot drive? just a guess.

Cancel last, faulty PSU to SATA connector, one connector out of the four is kaput, and new one is in the post already :)

I went for...

Took me 3 hours start to finish, inlcuding taking photos for my build thread which I am about to update. Currently installing my OS and all the other boring tedious stuff. Which I don't thinks too bad for a complete novice, this is my first PC build :)

Apart from one dodgy connector in one of my sata power cables and one noisey fan on my cooler which is being exchanged all is well so far, kind of wish I went for a windowed case now but hey-ho the P280 looks very professional for when I am writing customers invoices.

Really big thank you to everyone who helped me choose my parts :)

Glad you found the root of the problem.

Spec is great. Look forward to reading your build log :)

You and me both, glad it was something so minor.

I wont be updating the log until tonight, need to set up an account somewhere to host my images.
