7950

Got an MSI twin frozr one have far can I overclock it just a mild overclock

What temperature is at at stock?

They're good 7950s as they're on the 7970 PCB/components.

Try 1150/1700. You'll probably need voltage between 1.15V and 1.2V for that core speed and a small bump in memory voltage.

There should be more to give from it but test the temperatures first.

Nope, you should have an adapter in the box.

With the psu that's going to be powering the 7950, you shouldn't be overclocking it imo as stablity will be an issue.

Be careful with overclocking, if your psu isn't up to the task(as it doesn't have an 8 pin pcie power connector then it won't imo) you may damage the card.

Take that into account as well before the card gets the blame when it's crashing to desktop/blue screen/pink+ grey vertical hard lock ups).;)

Is it for a friend or have you switched from your 670?
:)

I think OP means his PSU has a 6 pin and 6+2 pin.

Should be fine to use, 750w is more than enough for a 7950.
Is it from OCUK? I'm looking at ordering one but want to be sure that the bad stock they had is gone.

No overclocking and the card is at stock, the fan speed was at 45 percent and the card reached 100 degrees should I send it back

I would put the right connectors in before judging it.

It'll run fine with two 6 pins. The TFIII V2 is on the 7970 PCB hence the 8 pin and 6 pin but a standard 7950 requires 2x 6-pin only. The extra pins should in theory assist overclocking but should be rock solid at stock and a smallish overclock.

The problem is the 100c temperatures. :)

Yeh im very concerned over those temps I have to say. OP what software are you using to record temps, I always use MSI Afterburner.
