Due later this week, the Asus Echelon is a slick headset with camo colour schemes based on the awesome Orion headset.

I am that impressed, I have got one for myself!

Will post back here with my thoughts

Featuring an attractive design inspired by digital camouflage patterns popular in games and real-world military apparel, the headset uses 50mm neodymium magnet drivers to ensure powerful and precise in-game audio. Extra-comfortable 100mm ear cups isolate up to 30dB noise, and the entire sound range comes across in better reproduction, from powerful bass to crisp highs. Rigorous testing has created a headband with optimized clamping force to eliminate stress and discomfort, while added touches such as a retractable microphone and braided cable provide the convenience and flexibility gamers require.

Designed to blend in with the best gaming
As the name suggests, Echelon Camo Edition evokes the excitement of first person shooters, one of the most popular PC gaming genres. Many of the leading titles in the segment allow players to customize camouflage and textures applied to weapons and outfits, and Echelon Camo Edition pays tribute to this aspect. When worn by gamers, the headset extends the focus on camouflage designs with its game-inspired look. The digital camouflage pattern is a familiar element in almost every shooter, while the stylish metallic side plates feature an aggressive claw totem, showing that Echelon Camo Edition users are hard to beat in-game.

Superior sound performance and comfort
Going beyond stylized looks, the 268g Echelon Camo Edition headset delivers powerful audio with 50mm neodymium magnet drivers. These support better sound positioning within games, so users gain increased awareness of environments, opponent actions and locations. Deep bass lends unmistakable impact to everything from soundtracks to explosions, while the wider range benefits from crystal-clear delivery and extremely low distortion, helped by gold-plated connectors.

ASUS sound engineering means the frequency response curve has been optimized for gaming output, reinforcing the reproduction of footstep and gunshot sounds to augment spatial awareness, response accuracy, and win rates. At the same time, material research and extensive testing assure total comfort even during the longest gaming sessions. Full-coverage ear cups measure 100mm and use high quality leather treatment to eliminate ear fatigue and block up to 30dB of external noise. The fine-tuned headband employs optimized clamping force, lab tested on a variety of head types. Echelon Camo Edition offers a great fit and prevents stress to further improve enduring comfort.

Extra features crafted especially for gamers
Accommodating the needs of PC gaming enthusiasts, ASUS has given Echelon Camo Edition a retractable noise-filtering microphone for enhanced voice quality. To minimize cable entanglements and sound quality degradation over time, the headset uses a tough braided 2.5m cable, the perfect length for most gamers as established by obtaining community feedback. In-line controls within easy reach allow customers to adjust volume levels without taking their eyes off the screen in the heat of the action.

the picture doesn't do it justice, its a lot more subtle in IRL

looks more like a dark grey and the camo is hinted rather than prominent.

Sorry for the really stupid sounding question, but even asus's own website doesnt mention this.

USB, or 3.5mm jacks ?

It's ok. We were so quick to list it, there doesn't even seem to be a proper listing for the specs yet.

It does in fact use jacks rather than usb.

After an hour gaming with them last night, I must say. I am very impressed

Looks nice, but i do not need, cause i'm in Shenzhen, there's many headsets, laptop batteries, power banks around us, good look also well quality:cool:

what about the headset impressed you?

The overall build quality is very good. i like the cushioning on the headband and the cups and the mic is decent quality.

I always find that one of those things is lacking in most headsets. there is always a compromise made.

this headset has a nice cable and the in line control is well designed. a lot of in line controls suffer from being a little fiddly but this one is chunky and substantial. very easy to control the headset whilst in game.

the one point i will make is that the bass is very strong. perhaps too strong for some people. it doesnt unbalance the headset but it makes it a little overwhelming when listening to music.

for gaming however, there is no external sound. mrs rjkoneill commented on how quiet it was when she was used to me using my Siberia V2s that allow a lot of sound out of the cups.

Love the style but the camo...not sure.

i personally dont like the rog logos on the orion version of this set. i dont really like the rog branding all together so this is a nice compromise.

in honesty, it looks like a grey headset in real life, its hard to explain in the pictures but it is very subtle.

I second this question. My Corsair 1300 has just died tonight so I need to order a new set tomorrow.

we are due stock soon so perhaps place a pre order if you can wait.

remember guys, we have a 14 day satisfaction guarantee. if you get the headset and it doesnt suit your requirements or you just dont like it...

send it back to us no questions asked :)

Would you consider 'soon' to deffo within the next week?

My Corsair 1300 is still under warranty and I'm sure I could strongarm them into sending me a replacement before I send mine back, but I kind of want to try something different. I can't go more than a week without a headset though.
